  • RE: Hulu rolls out “Hulu Labs” including desktop application for Windows and Mac [Appletell]
I just wish they could find a way to make Hulu worldwide available, because here (in Argentina) we have to wait 3 months to get the series, and we get 'em cropped down to 4:3 and with a gigantic loss in quality. Even if they offer the service as a paid one, with a monthly subscription fee, I'll be more than willing to pay for it, and I'm not the only one who thinks that way. I'd download the apps to test them, but I have no use for them.
  • RE: New iPod Shuffle, now with "talkies" [Appletell]
They might be trying to make the Shuffle live up to it's name, making it completely random. Funny how they released such a boring and plain device out of nowhere. They are losing the touch.
  • RE: Are we expecting too much from Apple? [Appletell]
You shouldn't just "get what you can". Apple will not exist if not for their loyal costumers, and they owe it to them to deliver amazing products each and every time. A few bad moves will turn everything against them.
  • RE: More to come from Apple? [Appletell]
I don't see more Mini updates coming soon this year. If they did redesign the case and everything for June like you said, people that bought the Mini before that date would be REALLY pissed off. Apple screw it up this time. No case redesign, minor tech upgrade (in a year or two, this model will be left behind).
  • RE: Why does Apple hate numbers? [Appletell]
I actually like the numberless keyboard. Personally, I work in a tightly arranged environment and this could be a benefit. My desk is made out of glass, so I have the mouse pad taking some space, with the keyboard in front of the 22'' LCD and the CPU right next to it (couldn't find anywhere else to place it without having to buy extension cords). The numeric part of my keyboard goes unused. I kind of/sort of never use it, and it's easily 1/3rd of my keyboard. I'm not saying that losing that solves my space problem, but it makes it easier for me to arrange everything. Besides, it looks cool. (Yeah, I know, that throws all my post away) We are one step closer to having a Mac desktop that's basically a thorn apart MacBook.
  • RE: The new Mac mini: first look [Appletell]
For over a year, the Mini has had that 'dated computer look'. This was Apple's chance to do at least a minor redesign of the case, and they blew it. I won't talk about the price, the last comment seems very accurate. Buying a iMac might be a better choice for someone that does not own a keyboard+mouse+monitor combination.
  • RE: New Mac mini! New iMac! New Mac Pro! [Appletell]
So, the Mini looks the same. That's lame.
  • RE: Songsmith from Microsoft (video) [Appletell]
And yes, I do know that the Martinettis are a part of the Apple Family.
  • RE: Songsmith from Microsoft (video) [Appletell]
I need to yell "Dude, really? SongSMITH? Singing office guys?". This has to be one of Microsoft's lamest ads ever. It's worst than 'The Martinettis Bring a Computer Home'.
  • RE: Rumor - The Mac Mini and something "huge" to come from Apple this month? [Appletell]
I wish they surprised with something totally new, not a tablet or anything like that. Old news.
  • RE: Appletell grades Phil Schiller's keynote [Appletell]
To me, besides Phil's performance, Apple has just started 2009 with a big disappointment. Software upgrades and updated MacBook pro... ... ... That's a press release, not a keynote.
  • RE: Will your netbook handle OS X? This compatibility chart should help [Gadgetell]
Hey, if my G3 iBook with 300mhz of CPU and 4Mb GPU was able to run Tiger, this netbooks should not have any trouble at all running Leopard.
  • RE: iPhone sales good, but they don't beat netbooks [Appletell]
Here in Argentina netbooks are just getting to be a bit more popular, but they still cost almost the same as a notebook, and you know that spec-wise a notebook kicks the netbook's practicality anyday. For $2000 (that's in pesos, it's around 600 dollars) you can get a netbook over here. I think the LG X110 costs exactly that amount of money. Comes with a 120gb HDD and 1gb of ram, with a 1.6Ghz CPU. From $800 to $4000 (dollars, 4000 being the MBP price tag, the "basic" one) you could get a notebook with much higher specs but, of course, bigger in size. Anyway, iPhone sales are not that impressive, or at least that's what I see when I walk into a Starbucks. Lot's of guys with their MacBooks (I smile when a PowerBook comes along), but two or maybe three persons holding iPhones. P.S.: Yes, Starbucks CAN be used to study product popularity.
  • RE: Psystar not just defending, they're fighting back! [Appletell]
Completely true, Adam. Earlier this year, my PC died (not quite, but it was unable to run any Windows version), so I had to change it. It was an old AMD64 of 2 ghz and 1Gb ram. I must have payed close to $300 for it 3 years ago and, before I threw it to the garbage, I tried using my copy of Tiger that came with my Dad's G5. The system itself could not be installed as it was, but there were TONS of tweaks to make it work going around the web. A simple Google search would do. What Psystar charges it's bogus and illegal, since they ARE changing stuff they aren't aloud to. If you made something that took you a lot of work, and along comes someone that changes it to do whatever he wants with it, you'd be pissed.
  • RE: This years Macworld with 100% less Jobs [Appletell]
Without Steve, the keynote needs to be better written than any other before, and have at least one big (BIG) announcement. My hopes: upgraded Mac Mini, upgraded Apple TV, sneak peaks of Snow Leopard performance and, long shot, significant price drops to attract costumers. 'Cause the last drop (the White MacBook one), was a shame. $100 is NOT a real cut, it's a kick in the groin. Besides, the WhiteBook's getting a tiny bit old...
  • RE: New Mac Mini to be introduced at Macworld? [Appletell]
I'd love to see the Mini improved. Some of the specs you mentioned are almost mandatory, but the redesign of the outside into a more compact aluminum thingy would be nice. I don't know what else could be done to improve it without killing the Apple TV. Sure, there's a significant price difference, but a super-Mac Mini will easily wipe the ATV from the face of the earth.
  • RE: Microsoft released Seadragon for the iPhone/iPod Touch [Appletell]
Pride has nothing to do here. Going by your terms, Apple had no pride when releasing Safari, iTunes and QuickTime for Windows...
  • RE: Apple files patents for 3D desktop and application interfaces [Appletell]
I just don't see the functionality in this kind of things. Eyecandy is always welcome 'til one of two things happens: A. It becomes annoying for work or B. It slows down the system. I think is just messy, and that it won't be used in OS X at least for now (including Snow Leopard).
  • RE: iTunes to be completely DRM free starting Tuesday? [Appletell]
If someone could explain to me why they can't offer TV shows worldwide, I'd really appreciate it.
  • RE: Clone Wars: the Argentinian "OpeniMac" [Appletell]
First of all, it's "argentine", not 'argentinian'. And second of all: MAN, THAT'S A FUGLY CLONE.
  • RE: iTunes to be completely DRM free starting Tuesday? [Appletell]
Great news if this turns out to be true. It would be nice to also see it passing over to movies and tv shows. I, unfortunately, run a PC with Windows XP SP3. iTunes 8 HD playback on this particular system is awful, so I watch all my HD or FullHD content on VLC... except for anything downloaded from the iTunes Store. I don't have many TV Shows, so it's not really a big issue for me, but I bet other people would like to burn certain stuff to DVD/Blu-ray or show it off on a non-Apple player. That's pretty much all I have to say regarding this matter (I went on another direction but, hey, I'm just posting a comment on a blog). P.S.: Am I insane from dreaming of a day when TV shows purchases outside the U.S. (most precisely, here in Argentina) will be possible?
  • RE: Apple issues Cease and Desist for iTunes database analysis [Appletell]
Zune? C'mon! That ugly thing exists thanks to the iPod.
