  • RE: T-Mobile introduces Even More plans [Gadgetell]
Yeah, I see that now. I apologize for having the wrong numbers up there. I'll make sure to fix them.
  • RE: T-Mobile introduces Even More plans [Gadgetell]
Andrew, the plans I was referring to were the plans with 500 minutes as well as data and messaging. True, the bare bones 500 minutes plans are cheaper, but that's not what I was talking about there.
  • RE: AT&T allows VoIP on the iPhone, still no Google Voice allowed [Gadgetell]
Matt, I'm sorry, but Google Voice isn't VoIP. It uses the carriers' voice networks for phone calls. Google Voice is really just a call forwarding system run by Google. The fact that it is run by Google does make it very confusing as to what it actually is.
  • RE: Is Walmart trying to kill the Zune HD? [Gadgetell]
Yesterday I went to my local Wal-Mart for a few things as well, and passing by the electronics section I immediately went for the Zune HD. I also loved the feel and size of the device, much smaller than I imagined it being. I was very depressed that I couldn't play around with it, as was the employee who asked me if I needed help. Granted, I wouldn't have much use for the device, I would have liked to play around with it.
  • RE: The Intel Core i7-powered HP Envy15 has arrived [Gadgetell]
I must say, if I could ever go back to Windows (I tried with a home-built Core i7 desktop, I really tried), this would be the laptop I'd get. The only downside is the lack of an optical drive, but that's not exactly a huge hurdle to jump over in day-to-day computing
  • RE: Ultimate flow chart: We'll help you decide on either iPod nano, touch, or Zune HD! [Gadgetell]
I think you forgot a step. Do you only have a Mac? While I love the Zune HD, I lack a Windows PC to use it on.
  • RE: AT&T sued for lack of iPhone MMS [Gadgetell]
Mike, the problems I've been hearing about AT&T paired with the issues of Apple's ridiculous App Store policies are what caused me to not switch to the iPhone 3GS. However, my recent quality issues with Verizon are what cause me to switch to T-Mobile for the MyTouch 3g, haven't had any issues as of yet.
  • RE: Testing Windows 7 on an Asus EEE PC 1000HE netbook [Gadgetell]
It works well on the 901 as well, though Parental Controls seems to be missing on mine for some reason, not letting me play Plants vs Zombies. Overall a nice upgrade from XP (only used Vista sparingly), but not enough to tear me away from Mac OS X and my rotating Linux slot on the 901's 4GB SSD, which is currently using Cruncheee, and usually Easy Peasy.
  • RE: Moto built prototype iPhone OS? [Gadgetell]
Well, everyone has to start somewhere. There's no sense in making a pretty GUI before making sure it'll all work as well as it could. Also, I love the Cheerios box on the "Serial Number" option.
  • RE: Skype releases its audio codec for free [Gadgetell]
Iyaz brings up a good point. What I can see is maybe Skype can later ask those who use its codec to let their customers know. Or maybe they could buy up the companies that make products for new devices using their codec. There's a lot of possibilities, but there's a good chance Skype can get its name out there to those who might not know what it is (if those people exist) once the codec becomes wider-spread.
  • RE: The top 5 Linux myths: Why you shouldn't fear the penguin [Gadgetell]
Moss Bliss, check ubuntu-eee.com, or the creator's page jonramvi.com. There's probably quite a few out there, none of them being official ubuntu releases. While just using Ubuntu with Netbook Remix is an option, I personally prefer something built specifically for the Eee since the space is already so limited, I don't want to delete things I don't want, I'd rather have to add things I do want.

Add/remove programs is somewhat easy for those running on standard Ubuntu. I'm working mainly with Ubuntu Eee (which, granted isn't an official version of Ubuntu), and add/remove programs doesn't work all that well for me for some reason. For that reason I like Get Deb, also because it reminds me a bit of MacUpdate.
