  • RE: Another Microsoft Seinfeld ad about nothing, but at least this one's funnier [Gadgetell]
Getting me to talk about it really isn't enough. Just think about the Super Bowl. How many commercials do you see that you think are funny or otherwise memorable that you talk about with your friends but you have no idea what product was being advertised? Being that Bill Gates is in these ads, most people will at least recognize that it's got something to do with Microsoft, but that's about it. They don't give anybody any compelling reason to upgrade to Vista, which is what I thought the intent was supposed to be, and they certainly don't do enough to counter Apple's ads, because: a) they're too long b) they can't be funny and actually promote features of their products at the same time I like the ads mostly because I like Jerry Seinfeld, but there's nothing about them that makes me think any more highly of Microsoft or its products.
  • RE: Reasons why Verizon thinks they are better than the iPhone [Appletell]
and to answer the question, AT&T;needs to lower their rates big time to get me to get an iPhone.
  • RE: Reasons why Verizon thinks they are better than the iPhone [Appletell]
I actually would rather if the iPhone was on Verizon. Of course, Verizon had to be stupid and reject Apple's offer. Non buyers remorse is kicking in.
  • RE: Three new iPhone 3G ads (or "Apple, get it together") [Appletell]
    Hey! I LIKE Seinfeld!
  • RE: Three new iPhone 3G ads (or "Apple, get it together") [Appletell]
Haha I love that video. For those who haven't seen it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHO8l-Bd1O4
  • RE: Three new iPhone 3G ads (or "Apple, get it together") [Appletell]
Haha yeah, but the Mac vs. PC ones at least aren't annoying like nails on a chalkboard.
  • RE: Three new iPhone 3G ads (or "Apple, get it together") [Appletell]
Am I the only one who agrees with Adam? Not only do these ads really, really lack any substance, but the background music is beyond annoying. The beginning sounds like some three year old kid banging on a piano or or something.
  • RE: Seinfeld and Gates to battle "Get A Mac" ads: scared yet? [Appletell]
Say it ain't so, Jerry! I actually disagree about Seinfeld no longer being relevant. Granted, I think he does appeal to a generally older crowd. Still, the man is hilarious.
  • RE: Current iPod line being phased out for September announcement [Appletell]
I hope that the iPod Touch doesn't get upgraded! I just bought one!
  • RE: Calvin and Hobbes Meets Steve Jobs [Appletell]
Note to self: Never send Adam stuff on iChat that I am planning to post myself :)
  • RE: Some thoughts on Apple's relationship with Microsoft [Appletell]
Haha, Tom, that's what I was thinking too. What!?
  • RE: Some thoughts on Apple's relationship with Microsoft [Appletell]
And I wouldn't put it past Bill Gates to do something out of the goodness of his heart. Check out http://www.gatesfoundation.org/default.htm Sure, there was a patent dispute settlement, but Bill and Microsoft didn't have to do as much as they did. There was something in it for Bill and Microsoft too, partially because Internet Explorer was originally part of the deal, partly because Mac users have to pay roughly the same amount for MS Office as Windows users do.
  • RE: Some thoughts on Apple's relationship with Microsoft [Appletell]
I'm not saying that Bill Gates single handedly saved Apple, but he certainly did help prop them up to buy Steve & Co. time to start innovating and making meaningful contributions again.
  • RE: Still think working for Apple would be like heaven? [Appletell]
Horrible if it's true. Steve kind of has a "hothead" reputation in the technology industry, although you would never know it from the way he acts in public. For all the people who have called him a hothead though, there have been people with nothing but good things to say about him, so it remains a mystery like everything else at Apple. And based on your dream, I'd say that your obsession with Steve is not healthy :)
  • RE: AT&T and Apple to be married until 2010? [Appletell]
I hope that there's a divorce and the iPhone becomes a very active bachelor :), meaning of course that it will be available on several different carriers and as a result monthly rates won't be a ridiculous $70 per month without text messages.
  • RE: How to waste your weekend - awesome, useless, and free iPhone apps [Appletell]
You beat me to posting this!. Oh well, I had some different ideas anyway, so maybe I still will. Great article!
  • RE: It's official: MobileMe is a flop [Appletell]
Mark, I think that MobileMe is still overpriced. It's theoretically a better value than .Mac provided that they get the issues straightened out, but with Yahoo offering free push IMAP e-mail for the iPhone (http://mobile.yahoo.com/iphone/mail), I think that Apple really needs to consider dropping the price. Yes MobileMe is better because it syncs your address book and contacts too, but is it $99 better? I don't think it is. BTW, the point of this is not to bash Apple. I'm an Apple fan. If I wasn't, I wouldn't be blogging here. My point is that Apple is far from "getting it right" with their online services and I just wanted to share my views as to why I believe it is not worth the money and is still very flawed.
  • RE: It's official: MobileMe is a flop [Appletell]
New MobileMe users don't have a choice - they must use the @me.com e-mail address. And you've been very lucky to have it work flawlessly for you, because you are in the bast minority. I was just a free trial user to test it out, and I couldn't log in to use it until a couple of days after the launch. Even then it was slow and buggy...and most of what I've heard from .Mac members and various other places around the net was that the launch was a disaster.
  • RE: Three new iPhone 3G ads [Appletell]
The background music is incredibly annoying!
  • RE: 7 ways that Apple can improve Safari [Appletell]
@Azoox I mentioned this in the article at the end. To my knowledge, you can only do it in Safari.
  • RE: MacBook Touch coming in October? [Appletell]
Don't know about you, but I'm hoping more for an iPod touch price drop!
  • RE: Apple 3Q results: Mac sales reach all-time high [Appletell]
I've heard that the increase in Mac sales over the course of this year should be enough to push Mac market share over 10%, in which case the platform will have the most relevance it has seen in maybe two decades! More companies will make software for the Mac and what little compatibility issues that still exist will have to be fixed because now one out of every ten people is using a Mac. This is the same sort of thing that happend once Firefox hit the 10% plateau in the browser wars. It used to have a lot of compatibility issues, and now it has virtually none.
  • RE: 7 ways that Apple can improve Safari [Appletell]
Juan, I knew that there was something I forgot to mention. Word has it that Safari 4 is in developers beta now, so who knows? I would like to think it's included.
  • RE: 7 ways that Apple can improve Safari [Appletell]
Thanks a lot Pat. I just went to submit this to Digg and somebody beat me to it!
  • RE: NYC 3G iPhone line forms. Already. [Appletell]
I won't buy an iPhone until it becomes available on other networks or until AT&T;lowers their rates significantly
  • RE: Mossberg: Firefox 3 is the best browser on the Mac [Appletell]
I have noticed a big difference in speed between Firefox 2 and 3, but I don't really think it is THAT much faster than Safari, even if it did fare slightly better in Walt's tests. I'll be sticking with Safari as well because of it's integration with Mac OS X and other Apple products
