  • RE: Pennsylvania postal worker accused of stealing 2,200 GameFly rentals [Gamertell]
wow...stuff like this just makes me proud to be from PA. Unreal.
  • RE: Rootkits on Sony/Beuna Vista rental DVDs [Gadgetell]
sporto...I did mention about using MS Word to access jumpdrive files, thanks for your input though. Chris...No, I don't still have the DVD "The Proposal" that caused the whole computer mess. I did return it, though I also made a point to call the video store and let them know what happened. I don't know if they put it on ALL DVDs of this title or not, to try looking at a different copy. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help, this kind of stuff shouldn't be allowed to happen. Jodie
  • RE: iPhone Porn: "Yeah, we've got an app for that" [updated] [Appletell]
Well, now it looks like Apple wasn't the one to yank the app, it's actually so in demand, it is sold out. According to the app developers ("Allen the Geek"): "The Hottest Girls app is temporarily sold out. The server usage is extremely high because of the popularity of this app. Thus, by not distributing the app, we can prevent our servers from crashing. Those who already have the app will still be able to use our app. To answer the question on everyone’s mind: Yes, the topless images will still be there when it is sold again. -ATG dev team" (Posted on their blog site http://www.allenthegeek.com/)
  • RE: Samsung has a new Blu-ray player: What's the point? [Gadgetell]
Thanks for *your* opinion panos. It's upSAMPLING btw...not upscaling DVD. And it *does* work with an HDTV...that is it's whole point. And if YOU borrow a friend's upSAMPLING DVD player you might change *your* mind about comparing it to a blu-ray player and how it compares. And I compared the price of an actual dvd to a blu-ray disk, not the players. And that IS a fact that they are still that expensive to make due to the cost of production. That is one of the well known flaws of blu-ray that is going to always hurt them. But again, thank you for your opinions. And if I was to watch a movie on two players side by side...I would be sure to pick Kung Ku Panda.
  • RE: Fall iPod showdown taking shape with Zune HD official [Gadgetell]
Doesn't look like it's coming w/ a camera so far. I just emailed someone from Zune and was told in answer to my question that the "most exciting feature" was "HD radio, OLED touch screen, Internet browser, and HD video output are all exciting features". Pretty standard blurb answer. Also no info on storage capacity willing to be revealed quite yet.
  • RE: In honor of all you Star Trek fans, now you can have your own ST Internet phone [Gadgetell]
Stu...from what I've seen with it, just an internet phone.
  • RE: Facebook is stubborn on position with Holocaust-denial groups amid some uproar [Gadgetell]
Ben...I absolutely agree that it can happen within any culture and toward any culture. Thus me saying that Facebook needs to address it in ALL areas, not just this one...and that if people are aware of other groups perpetuating hateful messages (which Facebook says they do not allow as per their ToS) to make it known, so these things can be at least shut down on the site. In their ToS...Under "Safety"...Section 3, Number 6 says this: "You will not post content that is hateful, threatening, pornographic, or that contains nudity or graphic or gratuitous violence." Notice the very FIRST word. Hateful. If the messages posted in these groups don't fall under the term "hateful"...I'm confused as to what does.
  • RE: Facebook is stubborn on position with Holocaust-denial groups amid some uproar [Gadgetell]
I guess this is yet another example of the "non-violent" discussions going on in the groups left on the board....(From the Wall in the group "F*ck Israel And Their Holocaust Bullsh*t") "Haider Ali Hussain wrote at 11:47pm yesterday apartheid is a word which best sums up the jewish resentment to anyone non jewish. Even sounds jewish. Spreading lies this time about north korea. You know jews are trying to create world war 3. I hope they do so i have an excuse to massacre them"
  • RE: Gadgetell Experiment: Naked Windows week 1 update [Gadgetell]
Maybe run a search for security programs, and go to the links/sites that come up that you don't recognize as the reputable ones (like download.com). Lots of people d/l viruses thinking they are getting something to get rid of them...so I'm thinking you'll find something after you this way....
  • RE: Who's on Crack in Tech: 05.01.09 [Gadgetell]
Oh my God....you totally crack me up. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!
  • RE: You Tell Gadgetell: What's your favorite gadget? [Gadgetell]
Thanks! And huge kudos going out to Iyaz for all his editing expertise in helping to put it all together! And Sporto...it was a blast to do...all the guys there were really informative and great to work with.
  • RE: Who's on Crack: Free stuff edition [Gadgetell]
I would SOOO nab myself a Kindle if they gave it away free and be more than willing to then pay for the books. Cmon JG....convince Amazon! lol
  • RE: The Pirate Google Bay raises its flags [Gadgetell]
It still seems to be up for me. I just went to it to see what happened. And just typed in a random band name...it DID take me to a screen saying I don't have permission to search on that server, but it had a "continue" button to continue the search on google. I hit ok...and when I did that...the one option was to search for torrent files only...right up on the top next to the ship icon. Great...I'm gonna have the pirate police knocking on my door now.
  • RE: Sexting can label your teen a sex offender [Gadgetell]
Jacquelyn, I agree with you that the circumstances do need to be heard. I think the whole key to this is that the youth need to be educated about this NOW. Because I'm guessing your son, like the vast majority of teens out there, had no idea whatsoever that what he was doing was against the law; and that he could in fact be prosecuted. Then, the next thing they know, they can be hit with very real charges like this that can affect their future in a very real way. I mean, just about everyone knows about child porn laws, but very few of us would have ever thought something like this would have classified, until you really break down the law and realize...well..yes, I guess it doesn't differentiate. This is all going to be a huge mess for lawmakers.
  • RE: Who's on Crack in Tech: 03.27.09 [Gadgetell]
    LoL.....you crack me up.
  • RE: Samsung's newest netbook - the N110 [Gadgetell]
Again, I did not handle the N110 myself, as I stated in my article. So, this wasn't really a "review", more of a "this is new on the market" announcement. And yes, as I said, it appears they kept the insides of the computer the same and just changed the style. All previous reviews I've seen of the NC10 labeled the cover as matte, I don't own one (as I also said). The only other difference I've seen is the battery life seems to be slightly extended. Hope that helps!
  • RE: Get your free Google netbook? [Gadgetell]
Well...if Google wants to start handing out toys...I'll take 'em! But nah...don't see it happening.
  • RE: Get free movies from Redbox in March on Wednesdays [Gadgetell]
Update---Like I said...I signed up to have redbox text me a Monday code for a free movie. It's after 2:00 Monday afternoon, and no code as of yet. On the upside, I also haven't been hit with any spam texts or charges....but I still would have liked my free movie. I DID try to use the code on the redblog site last Wednesday...and it did work with absolutely no problem.
  • RE: Hooray! Gmail adds a basic feature, upgrades uploading [Gadgetell]
oh thank God. It sometimes really IS the little things.
  • RE: Top five gadgets to spread the love this Valentine's Day [Gadgetell]
hehe...you'll have to check our sister site appletell for those. =) I'm sure Apple has some great products for Valentine's Day as well!
  • RE: Video: Playing with the Kindle 2 [Gadgetell]
....I still can't bring myself to shell out the money for the first one...and I'd love to hear feedback from people who use them if they really like them and they are really worth it.
  • RE: Video: Playing with the Kindle 2 [Gadgetell]
So how do you think the new one compares to the original? Worth it?
  • RE: Some of Staples Black Friday ads get leaked [Gadgetell]
Anyone happen to have used that SanDisk flashdrive? I like the idea of that ReadyBoost, since my laptop often lags with this lovely Vista.
  • RE: Who's On Crack in tech: 11.14.08 edition [Gadgetell]
Hehehe. These were great! Go JG...you tell 'em! =)
  • RE: Would you like to buy the Motorola AURA or about 10 iPhones? [Gadgetell]
Joseph...yep...they absolutely had to use the V70 as an inspiration for the design on this one. Just with an up in price of about $1,500.
  • RE: Gadgetell Review: Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 [Gadgetell]
tarzana, This program simply isn't made for pixel editing. It is made to be used in conjunction with the other Photoshop programs for that. If you DO want to do pixel editing, you simply tell the program that, and it will ask you what program you want to do the editing in...and open the photo IN that program in order for you to do that editing. There aren't the same kind of pixel editing capabilities that you find in Photoshop. Lightroom simply isn't made to be used for that. You don't even have the toolbar that you get in Photoshop, nor one-tenth of the editing tools. Besides this fact, Lightroom uses metadata instructions to *create* the pixels, so you aren't able to edit them...the work you are doing is with how you want the "pixels" to be rendered. The brush in LR2 is great this time around...but it is still not cut out for the same kind of work. While Lightroom is great for what is IS meant to be used for...pixel editing is not it. They want you to go to Photoshop itself for that...which is why that built that step into the Lightroom program. Hope that clears things up a little. Jodie
  • RE: How Google and T-Mobile plan to protect the network from malicious apps [Gadgetell]
I'm still curious how they plan to handle the fact that different Android phone makers don't have to all use the same specifications (they can use different hardware capabilities or features). Thus, unlike the iPhone where all apps are compatible...they might end up having different Android phones that can't work together when it comes to the applications. Has there been any mention of how they will be overcoming difficulties because of this?
  • RE: Cucku: Social Backup - Are they serious? [Gadgetell]
Robert, I never stated or implied that the process of sending ones files could allow you to get a virus. I said if your "buddies" computer becomes infected, your files are also now on that system...encrypted or not. Do you mean to state that because your files are encrypted through cucku's service that that makes them safe from any virus, trojan, malware, or crashes on your buddies system? I also didn't mention that your buddy had access to your files. In fact, that is why I implied you may not even KNOW what your buddy is sending, and all of a sudden find yourself liable if the feds come knocking at your door for kiddie pics. I stand corrected on the Faultline Communication reference.
  • RE: Time to end the rumors; Canon unveils the new EOS 50D DSLR [Gadgetell]
The mystery is finally unveiled! And you're right...my beloved Canon will not disappoint with this baby.
  • RE: IE just might be going private [Gadgetell]
Angulo, Actually..I agree. I much prefer Firefox over IE. Lancelot...I couldn't agree with your statement about Vista more. (As most people who have read any of my article's mentioning Vista know by now....) This article was more informative of their going private than a "this is a great browser" cheer.
  • RE: BMW prepares an electric Mini Cooper [Gadgetell]
Hi Mike, The picture was in no way meant to imply that BMW is involved in any conversion project with PML. The article here talks about several car manufacturers and lessons they learned/are learning regarding going electric. The photo is simply showing an electric vehicle close-up at a show where such vehicles were on display, giving consumers a chance to see under the hood (or bonnet). Hope this clears things up for you.
  • RE: Kodak releases the M820, M1020 digital photo frames [Gadgetell]
Judy, I know from looking at them myself that the 820 does...so I am assuming the 1020 would as well. You could probably check on the Kodak website or by calling their customer service number before ordering to find out for sure. Good luck!
  • RE: The sleeping giant awakens; Microsoft fights back against views on Vista [Gadgetell]
Shinve, I'm sorry you took the article that way. I feel I presented a factual presentation of what Microsoft is trying to do; with my opinion on the matter included. The only place I exaggerated, I also clearly stated I exaggerated. Vista *is* known for consistently keeping an inordinate number of processes open even when you don't have anything running. I noticed this even before I had any programs installed yet on my machine. I'm certainly open to hearing differing views on the program...are there specific reasons why you do like it? As with anything...people are all going to have different views.
  • RE: Gamertell Review: Guitar Hero On Tour for DS [Gamertell]
Personally...I found this pretty difficult to operate...it just felt awkward. And I even have long fingers (for a girl)...but I still had a hard time reaching the blue button with my pinkie while I was playing.
  • RE: Nifty little "must have" for the frequent flyer; the Balanzza [Gadgetell]
Thanks for your comment byte monster. To answer your questions...it is suggested that the Balanzza be calibrated when you first get it, due to the differences in wieght/mass from one location to the next. It does come with an easy feature to complete this task quickly. It also measures in both Lb or Kg...with a reported error measurement of less than 1/10 of a lb total. Hope that helps! Jodie
  • RE: YouTube plus stupid or criminal acts is not a good combination, or is it? [Gadgetell]
Oh my gosh...that is absolutely unreal. But you're right...in situations like this, sites like YouTube can absolutely be advantageous.
