- RE: Man marries Love Plus DS game [Gamertell]Probably. Or he'll have to resort to bigamy when Love Plus 2 comes out. (After the success of the first game, there's no way Konami won't make a sequel.)
- I'm preordering this the second Play-Asia shows it. XD
- You're absolutely right. They should have. Maybe it would have made the kid appreciate what he has.
- @ Zero Fan: It's best chances for localization probably lie with Atlus, XSEED or Ignition. If it's going to get picked up, one of those three companies would probably be the one to do it. Honestly though, you'd probably have a better chance of one day playing one of Koei's Neo Romance games in English than Vampire Knight DS. It's sad, but true.
- @Billybeeboy - Thanks for the link! @ Steven - Perhaps you should have called the store first, to see if they could honor the bundle? Or, perhaps try calling another local store to see if they will honor the deal. I know Walmart and Best Buy sometimes do price matching if they have the products in stock. Maybe, if one of those stores is near you, you should try calling the store and asking the manager if they would price match the Toys R Us ad and sale?
- @ Andy - It did arrive earlier than expected. :D @ Janine - I haven't heard the voice acting yet. Is Serra's accent really that pronounced? I thought that, for a time, the two sisters grew up in different areas, which would explain it. (Course I was reading with my poor Japanese skills, so I could have translated it wrong.)
- Hi Aly, That's really odd. I never had that happen, and I've used the DS-Wii connectivity to import one of my characters to the Wii game and used the DS to take my characters to visit friends towns. First, you have to start transmission on the Wii. There will be a little app-program to download to your DS. Make sure your DS has your Animal Crossing Wild World game in it. Start the app from the main menu. You should then be able to send your DS character to start a new life in the Wii game, or have your Wii character go visit friends.
- @ PhantomT1412: I remember that episode! They wanted to see the new Terrance and Phillip trailer, and they kept going from place to place to find a TV to watch the commercial breaks on! The best part was, the trailer was like 1 minute and only really showed the title of the movie and one five second scene.
- RE: Swag of the Day: Wooden crate of SqueeBalls [Gamertell]How adorable!
- RE: Gamertell Quick Review: Mabinogi [Gamertell]@ Daenon: Yes, it does run on Vista. I have Vista Home Premium and it has been running perfectly on my computer since the game launched. Perhaps there is a firewall or an antivirus issue?
- RE: Gamertell Review: Ju-On: The Grudge for Wii [Gamertell]@ Jessi - Don't bother renting it. I got it and I'll bring it along next time we hang out! :D
- RE: Gamertell Review: Ju-On: The Grudge for Wii [Gamertell]You should have mentioned how bland the second player "scares" really are. Ooooh.... blood drops suddenly appear on the screen or ghostly hands appearing to play peek-a-boo. That's frightening.
- @ underdark - True, but hopefully seeing the parallels between the games above could help get them a little more interested in full games. It's funny. My mom actually joined Facebook so she could play FarmTown, and now I've convinced her to try Harvest Moon by telling her it was like FarmTown but without having to wait days for crops to grow.
- @ underdark - Yup, there are quite a few. Most are only available in Japan though. I agree - I'm curious about HKO as well! I tried to download it and such, but for some reason my computer has problems unzipping such large files and I never got around to installing it. (The same thing happened with the Shin Megami Tensei MMO.)
- @ Jessi: Well, it is exceptionally cute. But aside from being a means to kill time if you're bored... what else? Perhaps stress relief as well?
- Don't forget the free episode of Naruto Shippuden! :D
- Makes me glad I paid $40 for the Japanese version from Play-Asia. In the long run, it was cheaper than collecting all the points and it meant I got a guaranteed copy.
- Nice... Maybe when FFXIII comes out, I'll splurge and finally get one.
- @ Ivan: It does seem like Sony is trying to do that for the people. You're probably right as well - if the PSPgo was instead the PSP2, with all sorts of other enhancements and features PSP owners have been asking/begging for, then it would probably have done much better in terms of sales. I think we all know why it's so much more expensive :D 1. It's new. 2. It's different. 3. Sony knows there are some people out there who will be willing to pay the price.
- Hi Nicholas: In short - no. It's a direct port, so everything is pretty much exactly the same. There are a few additional loading periods from the original and the control scheme is slightly different, but other than that, the same. I didn't really hold the cheap scares against it because that is very much in line with the whole B-movie thing (and one of my favorite horror series, Fatal Frame, is occasionally guilty of the same thing), but they are still there. The multiplayer is also less scary, but I found more because of the lag than the patterns. Since things can move slower with a second person, you lose some of the suspense and shock value. If someone hasn't played Obscure: The Aftermath before, and could perhaps get it on sale or used, I'd probably recommend the PSP version though - Hydravision and Playlogic did a good job with the port. But it's still pretty much the exact same game.
- RE: Gamertell Review: Dawn's Light for PC [Gamertell]I think it'd be nice to see an old-school homage RPG on WiiWare. As much as I liked Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, I did like this more and I'd like to have a more traditional RPG on there. You're still early in - after an hour more you'll see just how funny and challenging it can be. :D Maybe not even that. I liked that brief little moment after Harvey saved the sheep from the Magubbins.
- @ lalala: I'm sure we'll start seeing some effort by homebrew people soon. There are so many intelligent and ingenious people out there, it'd be ridiculous to think that any device is foolproof and secure. I'm sure we will see a PSP2. I kind of think the PSPgo is a test by Sony. Perhaps the company is considering a download only portable for the next step, and wants to test people's reactions with the PSPgo. @ Mark: And no need to apologize. You did make some really great points and it was a well written commen that you left. :D I think you're right as well, that there is an audience for which the PSPgo makes a lot of sense and is exactly what some people want in a device. And I really liked the point you made about the cost of memory as well. When you factor that in and consider that, it doesn't seem as outrageous. I still would have liked to have seen a game voucher tossed in, or the European PSPgo rewards program implemented worldwide. Just a little extra incentive. I know when I get a console, I like to get at least some game with it. There probably are quite a few people out there who are eager for the PSPgo, and I'm positive it won't be a total fail (ex. Virtual Boy.) Personally, as long as Sony and companies still keep supporting the UMD PSPs, I'm happy. As long as I still have games to play, I'm good. I mean, I'm carrying a purse anyways, so tossing a few UMDs in with the PSP is no big deal for me.
- Hi Mark, Actually, I made no mention of the UMD/game price issue in the article at all. Well, I did mention that the surge in PlayStation Store sales could be due to existing PSP owners buying and not PSPgo owners, but that doesn't really pertain to the issue you're discussing. And the opinion article you suggested, "People with no internet connections get the shaft having to pay full price for games on UMD" would be quite difficult to defend. It costs more to sell a game that way, after all, and then the stores selling said UMDs have to make a profit. So it would actually make sense for UMD versions to cost more. (That isn't the case here, since games are pretty much the same price new on both PSN and UMD after launch. Of course, there are the inevitable UMD price drops that tend to happen 3-5 months after a release, but lets not get into that. :D) In a time like this, when many people don't have a lot of spare cash lying around, price is going to be an important factor when it comes to buying games. That's why I think so many people are quick to bring up the UMD vs. download issue. People purchasing UMDs do get a bit of an advantage. For example, the Prinny and SMT: Persona UMDs both came with soundtracks for $39.99. The digital releases don't include the soundtrack. Doesn't that seem unfair to PSPgo owners? Also, there's the resale option, which would allow for the purchase of a new game. You are right though - both sides have pros and cons and it's a matter of personal preference as to which medium to choose. (Personally, I have a collector mentality so I'd always choose the hard copy over the intangible one. :D)
- That's another great point Caid. Especially if you figure in the price of used UMDs. Another good point that I didn't mention is the PSPgo reinforces region protection. With my current PSP 2001 model unit, I can play games from anywhere, meaning I'm not forced to only accept what's released in the US.
- Action Replay Wii doesn't let you enter codes for specific games. It just lets you access and use game saves from Datel that are enhanced.
- RE: Angel Kirby cross stitch [Gamertell]Glad you liked it. No pattern. Just enlarged the image from the sprite database. :D
- RE: Fangbangers, get ready for True Blood game [Gamertell]What about a dating sim based on Sookie's experiences? It's hard to keep track of all the men she's been with in the books.
- I wish my local Japanese bookstore carried it. Alas, they only have the main Dengeki. That strap would look AWESOME on a DS or PSP. XD Did the latest issue (if you got it) mention Arabian's Lost DS? It sounds kinda cool.
- Yup! Joystiq was the site with the latest story. You can see it here: http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/12/there-are-22-802-words-in-scribblenauts/ And you're right! Rickroll is on the list!
- RE: Important Importables: Idolm@ster [Gamertell]@ dork at large: You're absolutely right! I forgot the Live for You OVA that was included with the Xbox 360 Live for You game. And it is a shame that there'll never be localizations. The guides available are great though. I used the Xbox 360 one to help me through my first playthrough of Perfect Sun. @ bleach1st: Thanks so much! It's really a surprisingly fun game. When I first heard about it, I wasn't sure I'd enjoy it, but once I played Perfect Sun I was hooked. I'm really looking forward to Dearly Stars now!
- Doesn't it? I think it was Joystiq that just reported that hackers have already gotten their hands on it, dissected the game and discovered it can recognize over 22,000 words.
- RE: How To: A modern guide to Sega's Dreamcast [Gamertell]Very informative! I'm going to download the checklist to keep for reference. Thanks for writing it! I ended up caving and ordering the Princess Maker Collection from Play-Asia. (I already know Princess Maker 2 is awesome, and I'm sure Princess Maker 1 will be good as well.) I think I'll end up going for one of the Pop'n Music's too before the year's out. I highly recommend the DC-IE Import Enabler. I stopped by this awesome game store in Chicago yesterday that had a few of them for sale. If you can't find a Gameshark, it's a great way to get import games to work and the sheet that comes with it lists some import games to check out.
- Cool! Thanks so much. I borrowed Power Stone from a friend (PSP version), so I'm not so sure about that. I think I'd rather hunt down Marvel vs. Capcom 2. I've heard good things about Sonic Adventure and JoJo's. I'm already keeping an eye out for a cheap GameShark cause I want the Princess Maker collection, a Sakura Taisen game, the Takuyo Symphony game and maaaaybe one or the Hello Kitty or Card Captor Sakura games.
- I just got a Dreamcast used at a local Goodwill, and Soul Caliber was one of the 6 games that came with it. I had no idea that the anniversary just came up. Can you recommend any good games? Shenmue, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, the aforementioned Soul Caliber, Crazy Taxi and a Tomb Raider were among the games it came with.
- Yup! It was released May 13, 2008. So it should be in a store near you now - maybe even used. :D
- RE: Amaterasu's legacy continues in Okamiden DS [Gamertell]@ Kei: It could just be the intro shots. After all, this is the first peek from Famitsu. @ Janine: Same here! I hope they don't have those STUPID puzzles where you have to get down to the bottom of a mine/well. I never finished the original Okami cause I couldn't get that rabbit/princess/girl Kaguya to the bottom of one of those!
- It doesn't really look all that tiny when you're actually playing. But I know what you mean. At first I was all weirded out by the Wii Harvest Moon's graphics. I've heard about that! I have the first Lunar game for both the PS1 and GBA, so I'll probably pass. I think I'd wait for Eternal Blue because, while I have the PS1 version, I never finished it. :P I'd be much more motivated to complete a portable version. Isn't that weird? I have no problem finishing portable versions of games, but can't seem to find the time to finish console versions.
- True, but what about combat and questing fun? I still haven't played the second one yet. XD Is it good?
- I wish it'd be a PC episodic game. Apparently each period of the character's life is somehow going to be an episode I gather? I'm kind of disappointed in the direction Fable III seems to be taking. I always thought of the Fable games as being about heroism and starting out with nothing and working up to having almost everything. But who knows? Maybe it'll work out well.
- RE: 5 Spirited Heart secrets to success [Gamertell]@ Joy: Exactly. Boost your character's stats so they'll fulfill the requirements of the advanced job. Then go to the basic job to unlock your first 3-4 visits with him. Then head to the advanced job to start seeing him again.
