Rumor: Lenovo leaks new ThinkPad’s, some to accompany X300

by Natesh Sood on Apr 13, 2008 at 08:48 AM

New Lenovo Laptops

One of the more, innovative laptops in recent days, the Lenovo X300 is about to get some company with the new ThinkPad line-up. By September, we should be seeing the X200, X400, and the X500, all to accompany the popular X300. Now, all three of these laptops will feature HSDPA and EVDO, sport a 25% better battery life and 6MB L2 cache, all guaranteed to please just about everyone. The differences between these new laptops is that the X200 will be sporting a 12-inch screen, the X400 has a 14.1-inch screen and the X500 has a 15.4-inch screen.

Next, we have the Lenovo R-Series, which doesn’t seem to come with a whole lot details, but will be your basic Lenovo laptops. The 2 models of the R-Series that we know of so far are the R400 and the R500. They weigh 5.1 pounds and 6.4 pounds, respectively. These new laptops are slated to be on sale sometime in July of 2008, and no word on pricing.

Walt Mossberg reviews the ThinkPad X300

by Robert Nelson on Feb 23, 2008 at 05:03 PM

Lenovo ThinkPad X300

With an overall positive review, Walt Mossberg claims the X300 is “a solid, innovative laptop that will be perfect for many mobile PC users.” Making the obvious comparison to its rival, the X300 seems to have a little more to offer feature wise as compared to the MacBook Air, with a few downfalls coming from the operating system and battery life.

“I believe that both the Mac operating system and the software that comes with it are superior to the Windows operating system and built-in software offered on the ThinkPad.”

Lenovo’s X300 ThinkPad, it may not be thinnest, but its full-featured

by Robert Nelson on Feb 14, 2008 at 08:28 AM

Lenovo X300

Anticipation is getting high when it comes to the latest ThinkPad, the Lenovo X300. Since the release of the MacBook Air, laptops are seemingly now judged not only based on features and the overall weight, but also how thin they are.

While the X300 may not be as thin as the MacBook Air, it does have some goodies that will make up for any small difference in size. The two laptops weigh in pretty close with the X300 coming in at 3.12 pounds and the Air at 3.0 pounds. Both laptops also come with a 13-inch widescreen display and have full sized keyboards, but that is where the similarities go away. The X300 also includes a full set of features to include three USB ports, Ethernet jack, built-in DVD drive, a removable battery and even has the option for a built-in cellphone modem or GPS. It can also be ordered with Windows XP or Vista pre-installed. The X300 is expected to retail between $2,500 and $2,800.

One major drawback with the X300 is the only storage option available is the 64GB SSD which as we all know simply increases the overall price. I am a fan of SSD and hope to see it become available on more laptops, but think with the current pricing we should have an option to “downgrade” to a regular drive.

Lenovo’s ThinkPad X300 laptop now confirmed

by Robert Nelson on Feb 9, 2008 at 03:35 PM

While we still are yet to see an official announcement from Lenovo, the X300 ThinkPad has now been confirmed. Once again the leak and confirmation comes courtesy of Best Buy with a listing for the Lenovo “Topseller” x300 that will retail for $2,743.99.

The X300 features an LED backlit 13.3-inch display, 2.0GHz Santa Rosa Dual Core processor, 2GB RAM, 64GB SSD and running Windows XP Pro. While the X300 appears to be a legitimate model that will be available for sale, it is still unclear as to when it will ship.

Lenovo X300 ultralight laptop leaked specs

by Robert Nelson on Jan 20, 2008 at 08:23 AM

Lenovo X300 Ultralight Laptop

Rumors are among us again, this time in the form of a new ultralight laptop from Lenovo. The X300 details are still missing two important items, the release date and the price. The specs however are really nice looking and are said to include a 13.3-inch LED, Intel Merom Santa Rosa Dual Core CPU (2.0 Ghz / 880 Mhz ), 64GB SSD, support for up to 4GB of DDR2 PC2-5300 RAM, a sweet 4 hours of battery life and weighing in at just 2.5 pounds. Overall it sounds like a great package, but if the 64GB SSD is the only option for storage then I would expect a pretty high price tag.
