Journalist lives to regret drunken video on YouTube
![]()
The night after Obama’s election was a time for celebration for most people (although obviously not John McCain) with parties, drinking and general fun. However for one British journalist the night became a bit of a nightmare when he became an overnight star on YouTube.
Sitting in a corner on a laptop he is approached by a cameraman, who asks him a few questions about himself and the election. Adam Smith (the journalist) is obviously quite drunk, but talks fairly coherently about why he is there and who he works for (Birmingham Mail in England), but then it all went wrong. When asked about an article he is writing at the moment he says that he has copied and pasted it off the BBC website, and then goes on to resign from his job.
100 year flash memory chip developed
![]()
Widely used in devices like the iPhone, mini notebooks, digital cameras, Flash-based SSD hard disk drives and more, flash memory chips usually have a lifetime of about ten years. This is even being optimistic. When you are using applications that need a lot of repeat writing and rewriting however, this can cause the cells to wear out even faster, and you can find your flash device useless in only a couple of years. So, a flash memory chip that is purported to work for up to a century? Literally unheard of. But that is just what Japanese scientists say they have developed. Scientists from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology and the University of Tokyo also claim that the new chips work at a lower voltage than conventional chips.
Pen-to-PC in a whole new way
![]()
For those who are busy, outgoing and are often in meetings, using your laptop (however small) is often not very practical so you end up taking notes through the old fashioned, and lot cheaper method, the pen. However not only does that hurt your hand after a while, but you get a result that you cant search, send off instantly, or mess around with on Word. In fact you often end up re-typing it anyway to make it usable which is frustratingly time consuming, and makes you wish there was a better solution.
