AT&T’s BlackBerry Bold was literally just made available for $299, and now Wal-Mart is going to offer the BlackBerry Bold for free with a rebate.  It’s a nice deal by Wal-Mart to deliver the BlackBerry Bold essentially for free.

This new deal may make some people get the new Bold with a 2 year contract, of course.  Let us know if you plan on getting one.

Wal-Mart to retail T-Mobile G1’s starting tomorrow, October 29

by Natesh Sood on Oct 28, 2008 at 02:30 PM

Walmart gets T-Mobile's G1

If you haven’t already bought a T-Mobile G1 and still would like to, then you would be happy to know that you don’t have to buy a G1 from T-Mobile and pay the full price.  Announced just yesterday (October 28), Wal-Mart stated that they would carry T-Mobile’s hyped G1 within a few days.  This was confirmed by an official spokesperson for Wal-Mart.

Melissa O’Brien, the spokesperson, also said that the G1 would sell for $148.88 with a two year contract.  This is exactly $31.11 cheaper than what T-Mobile sells it for - $179.99.  Roughly 550 Wal-Mart stores across America will be carrying the G1 starting tomorrow (October 29).  So, if you are looking to get a good deal on a G1, then you may want to consider purchasing one from a Wal-Mart near you.  Since 550 stores are set to carry the phone, I’m sure you will be able to find one near you.

It will be interesting to see if people decide to buy the G1 now that they have the opportunity to buy it for $31 cheaper.  Let us know if you plan on getting one at Wal-Mart.

HP going green, offers Pavilion dv692 laptop packaged in messenger bag

HP going green, offers Pavilion dv692 laptop packaged in messenger bag

HP has come up with a pretty unique take on packaging. In fact they have won Wal-Mart’s Home Entertainment Design Challenge for coming up with their latest idea to reduce packaging.

HP has been able to reduce the packaging for their Pavilion dv692 laptop by an incredible 97% simply by cutting the box out of the picture. That’s right, HP will begin packaging the dv692 in its own messenger style bag. The laptop along with all of the accessories such as battery and power cable will still be wrapped in some bubble wrap to protect it while in shipping, but it will not come with any box.

So overall it sounds like a pretty good idea, not only cut out a lot of the packaging, but users will also get a nice bag included with the purchase. However their packaging savings does not stop there, HP is also able to ship three of these notebooks (pictured below) in a single box thanks to the reduced packaging, which according to Wal-Mart “requires a fourth fewer trucks to deliver to stores.“

by Robert Nelson on Jul 31, 2008 at 06:01 AM

Sylvania MESO netbook

Sylvania, best know for their TV’s that are sold mainly at Wal-Mart has decided to enter into the already overcrowded netbook market. Sadly the MESO seems to be just another netbook, and overall nothing really special.

The MESO will feature an 8.9-inch display, 1.6GHZ Intel Atom processor, 80GB hard drive and a built-in card reader and webcam. The Sylvania will be running either Windows XP Home or Ubuntu Netbook Remix. Again similar to other netbooks, the MESO will be available in a variety of colors which include onyx, snow, solar and blossom, which are better known as black, white, yellow and pink.

Although it has not officially been announced, the MESO is expected to be available through Wal-Mart and retail for $299 and up.

Free T-Mobile deals at Wal-Mart, some even offering cash back

by Robert Nelson on Jul 7, 2008 at 07:36 PM

Wal-Mart free T-Mobile offerings

Anyone looking to become a new T-Mobile customer may just be in luck. Wal-Mart of all places currently has a sweet deal in place on a variety of models. Some of the items include the Wing, which comes with a free Kingston 1GB memory card and USB card reader and will (after rebate) give you $50.

The titanium BlackBerry Curve, Pearl and Dash are all in the same category, giving you $50 cash back, however these last three do not offer the free memory card and USB card reader. Still a nice deal though.

The Samsung Blast, Katalyst and the SGH-T639 will all get you $75 back after rebates. They also have some good deals on the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic phone, MOTORIZR as well as some MOTORAZR models.

Of course most of these deals require a mail-in-rebate so be sure to fill out all your paperwork. Click the product link below to check out the full list of deals.

Wal-Mart steps up sale of Blu-ray; offers up $100 gift card

by Arnold Zafra on Jun 4, 2008 at 07:46 PM

Wal-Mart Logo

Here comes yet another effort to push Blu-ray into more households. Wal-Mart is currently offering a $100 gift card along with the purchase of any Blu-ray player. The promotion will run from June 8-14 and to kick off, Wal-Mart is even adding more Blu-ray brands to its inventory with units from Magnavox, Samsung and Panasonic. In addition, Wal-Mart will also offer Blu-ray movie titles at a reduced price of $15 per regular title. Some of these movies will include titles such as “3:10 to Yuman”, “Shooter” and “300.“

Wal-Mart’s promotion may yet be the biggest campaign thus far in the drive to promote the Blu-ray format since it won the drawn out format war. It was only a couple of months ago that Blu-ray beat its rival format, HD DVD and it looks like that it has not yet reached maximum sales.

Wal-Mart seems to have good intentions with this promotion, but will it be enough to convince customers to replace their standard DVD players and movies?

Creative gets a little more colorful with the ZEN

by Robert Nelson on Apr 28, 2008 at 08:05 AM

Creative Zen Now in Pink and Red

Two new colors for the Creative ZEN have recently begun to show up online. Wal-Mart currently has a new pink color, while Buy.com is listing a red colored model, and while they are still not listed on the official Creative site the pink model is listed as in-stock at Wal-Mart, the red model from Buy.com is temporarily sold out.

The newly colored pink ZEN is listed as a Wal-Mart exclusive and is the 2GB model which retails for $69.98. The Buy.com red model is the 4GB model and is retailing for $98.24. Aside from the new coloring they will retain the same features which include a 2.5-inch display with a 320 x 240 resolution, FM radio, microSD card slot for additional storage and they offer support for a wide variety of audio and video formats. Looks like a good time to drop the pink and red, after all Mothers Day is just around the corner now.

Wal-mart now accepting HD-DVD player returns

by Arnold Zafra on Apr 8, 2008 at 06:12 AM

Wal-mart

Wal-mart has announced that it is now offering refunds for HD DVD players purchased on or after November 1 2007. Consumers have until April 30 2008 to return the players with or without the original packaging. Consumers just need to present their proof of purchase to get a refund.

If you are one of those who bought HD DVD players, only to find out later on that movie companies will no longer support it and instead put their videos on Blu-ray discs, now is the chance to get your money back or add a few more bucks to purchase a Blu-ray player instead. Similarly, other big box retailers such as Best Buy, Circuit City and Future Shop all have similar return policies for HD DVD players.

Vizio takes top honors as Wal-Mart’s Electronics Supplier of the Year

by Robert Nelson on Mar 12, 2008 at 05:01 AM

Vizio, who is currently the “fastest growing brand of flat panel HDTVs in North America” has found a great partnership with big-box retailer Wal-Mart. Even with the Vizio lineup in the stores for less than a full year, that was still enough to have Wal-Mart give them some well deserved recognition as the Electronics Supplier of the Year for 2007. The award comes in part because according to Wal-Mart most of the Vizio models were among the top selling flat panel HDTV’s.

I guess with a combination of “Every Day Low Prices” from Wal-Mart and “Where Vision Meets Value” from Vizio it almost seems like a match-up that was waiting to happen.
