MSI to launch the Wind in black, pink in addition to white

by Robert Nelson on May 8, 2008 at 10:39 PM

MSI Wind in Black

With an official release date yet to be announced more and more details of the MSI Wind have been leaking out. The latest information puts the Wind even further into the Eee PC group as we have just learned that it will not only be available in white, but MSI has plans for a black and pink model as well.

Each of the three colors will be available in both the 8.9-inch and 10-inch displayed models. In addition to the newly discovered colors, TCMagazine is also reporting that there will be a model that will offer up to 7-hours of battery life, now that is high-capacity, lets just hope it does not add a ton of extra weight to go along with the power. Other newly released details include the webcam being 1.3-megapixels and the notebook will also have an second (empty) RAM slot available for easier upgrading. The Wind, which is still expected to be available later this quarter is expected to range in price from 299 to 699 Euros (about $460 to $1,077 US).

Lenovo’s U110 IdeaPad ultra-portable coming soon

by Robert Nelson on Apr 17, 2008 at 12:01 PM

Lenovos U110 IdeaPad

The Lenovo U110B and U110R will soon be available in the US, or so it would seem based on some recent listings at online retailer J&R. The small, but fully functional notebooks from Lenovo are a little more on the high-end side as compared to the recent rash of low-cost offerings we have been seeing, and would fit more in line with the X300 or MacBook Air.

Both the U110B and U110R offer similar features, but have a different color on the outer shell, the “B” is the black model, while the “R” is the red model. Aside from the color, the notebooks will both feature an 11.1-inch widescreen display with a 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, 1.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo L7500 processor, 3GB of RAM, 120GB hard drive, 1.3-megapixel webcam and be running Windows Vista. The U110 will also include the standard variety of ports and connectivity which include a Wi-Fi 802.11a/g/n, Ethernet, Bluetooth, three USB ports, one Firewire, VGA-out and a built-in card reader.

The laptops weigh in at just 2.3-pounds, are only 0.7-inches high and are reported to have a battery that can offer up to 8-hours of life. Of course with all these goodies comes a decent price tag, the U110 IdeaPad will retail for $1,999.

BiTMICRO brings SSD storage up to 1.6TB

by Robert Nelson on Feb 6, 2008 at 09:05 AM

BiTMICRO 1.6TB SSD Storage

With a lot of people looking towards solid-state-storage we are still limited by two factors, storage size and pricing. Well thanks to BiTMICRO we now have one less to worry about, of course it still does not make a realistic item for most of us to drool over. BiTMICRO has announced a 1.6TB SSD, which should clearly put an end to anyones storage problem. Except, with that huge storage option available it will most likely just make the price barrier a little higher. BiTMICRO has not released any pricing information for this drive, but we can imagine it not being cheap. The drive itself is in their 3.5-inch E-Disk Altima Ultra 320 SCSI series and is enterprise grade offering sustained data transfer rates of up to 230 MB/sec and peak rate at 320 MB/SEC in burst mode.
