Learn lighting with Nikon from two top photogs
Nikon users get in line. Everyone’s about to get enlightened. A new training video titled “A Hands-on Guide to Creative Lighting” is on its way for Nikonians of all experience levels.
Two very knowledgeable photographers lead the training: Bob Krist and Joe McNally. Both have done work for National Geographic and have a close relationship with Nikon. Both are multi-award winners, authors/photographers of best-selling photography books, and have shot for major magazines and companies. Both men also teach seminars and workshops. It is without question these men know their stuff. Who better to learn from than masters of the craft?

Brazil hates Windows: pushes free OS

When I was in Sao Paulo last April, a free Linux based OS was the furthest thing from my mind as I surveyed the Favellas (slums) as well as the metropolitan parts of the city. In this country of new hope, the government has taken an interesting tack: computers for all. Their plan is to offer a free operating system to keep computer costs low and thus more affordable for all. It is an interesting approach that is gaining acceptance.
To date, the OS has an installed base of 1.5 million and looks to climb to 2 million by year’s end. The first open source OS for the country is Insigne, which opened a training center in Sao Paulo. Working closely with vendors, Insigne prides itself on a simple UI and basic functionality for email, word processing, spreadsheets, and browsing.
Sprint retail locations to close for 2-hour webcast

Sprint is planning on closing all of their stores, to include licensed dealer locations from 9am to 11am PST today. During this time all partners, owners and employees will watch a webcast. While this is most likely just some employee training, we can always hope for something good, possibly some news of the rumored $60 unlimited calling plan?
Lets just hope the closing of the Sprint stores offers us geeks a little more exciting news than the Starbucks closing. All things considered better coffee is a good thing, but we were hoping to hear something a little more tech friendly.
