Intel to use light sensors to stop laptop scalding
Are you tired of constantly getting your legs burned by your laptop? In a few years, that problem may be eliminated with the help of Intel. Under a recently filed patent, Intel plans to use “light to sense when a computer casing is getting too hot, and automatically throttles back the power” in order to cool the laptop. The light sensor would sense when particular spots of the internal case are hot, and then signal the processor to slow down for a little bit until the temperature falls to an un-painful level.

JVC goes for the iPod speaker market too

This ultra-compact, go-anywhere portable speaker system has a built-in iPod dock and FM tuner. It runs on 6 AA batteries and includes an AC power supply for added flexibility. It’s also a clock radio alternative that features a built-in alarm clock with snooze function, a date display and if that doesn’t seem different enough from every other iPod speaker, this one has a room temperature display.
Tech geek’s pool thermometer
The weather is getting really nice outside and all we are thinking about is hopping in the pool in-between posting stories, all summer long. Yeah, we know, you wish you had our job. But certainly we need to make sure the water is warm enough prior to putting our laptops down. Thankfully this will no longer require effort either. For $69.95 you can get a Sharper Image floating pool thermometer with a large LCD screen and wireless display, accessible up to 100 feet. The indoor receiver displays the water temperature plus room temperature, humidity, min/max temperature readings, high/low temperature alert, and temperature-trend indicators.
Ahhh, the life of a blogger.
