Buy every SNES game ever made

by PJ Hruschak on Mar 19, 2007 at 10:06 PM

SNES Collection Ever since the PAX 2005 (Penny Arcade Expo) Omegathon II grand prize - every licensed NES product every made - it seems that similar collections periodically crop up everywhere. It’s a bit surprising since collecting every licensed NES item would be an expensive and time consuming task that very few could afford to undertake.

The latest version is a collection of every Super NES game, all 720 of them, plus 74 duplicates. All of them include the box, manual and many are even still sealed. Yep, one person collected every SNES and has decided to sell it off. The asking price: $15,000 (US) plus $500 for shipping. That a rough average of $19 per game. Doesn’t really seem worth it to me when considering the percentage of really, really bad games. Besides, you’d need to either display it (proudly, of course) or find some way to safely store it all. Yet, strangely enough, the gamer in me can’t help but think, “Damn, that’s pretty cool.”

The eBay auction ends Mar-21-07 19:30:00 PDT, in case you just gotta have it all.

BTW: The cage that held the Omegathon II prize of every NES product was eight feet across, eight feet wide and four feet high. Luke “Coreside” Armstrong won after completing five rounds of gaming against various opponents, including a rousing final battle of Combat on a glitchy Atari 2600. He won by one point.
