Kodak’s new all-in-one printers

by Heidi Crossman on Oct 21, 2008 at 11:21 AM

kodakKodak has two new All-in-One (AiO) printers, the EasyShare 7 (“ESP7”) and the EasyShare 9 (“ESP9”).  The ESP7 and ESP9 showcase Kodak’s promise of the lowest ink replacement cost in the industry.  MSRP on black ink is $9.99 and color ink is $14.99.  Those prices are pretty reasonable.  Other goals for these printers are lab-quality prints and easy to use.

Nokia N810 gets price cut, now just $299

by Robert Nelson on Jul 18, 2008 at 08:30 AM

CompUSA drops Nokia N810 price to 299

While the price drop does not seem to be available at every online retailer, at least one, namely CompUSA has dropped the price of the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet down to just $299.99. Currently listed as in stock and available the discounted price comes after an instant savings of $100.

No word on how long this price will last for, so if you were considering an N810 purchase, this may be a good time to part with the cash. A quick check of a few other online retailers still reflect the standard pricing. NewEgg has it listed for the expected $399.99, while Best Buy is still trying to get $479.99.

Now you can purchase the N810 for little less and be able to play around with Android a bit, sounds like a win-win.

Ask.com finalizes Dictionary.com purchase

by Robert Nelson on Jul 4, 2008 at 12:46 PM

With the deal closed on the Dictionary.com purchase, Ask.com has now become, at least according to comScore, the ninth-largest web property. The all-cash deal originally began back in mid-May and had Ask.com purchasing Lexico Publishing Group LLC. The web properties that were included were Dictionary.com, Thesaurus.com and Reference.com.

Ask.com is reporting that this will give them an increase of around 15 million additional users on a month basis, which would put them up to a monthly audience of around 145 million. Terms of the acquisition, such as how much was paid were not disclosed.

CompUSA; Offering an honest deal on HD DVD players

by Robert Nelson on Feb 22, 2008 at 07:01 AM

CompUSA HD DVD Sale

The latest HD DVD deal is courtesy of CompUSA and for just $89.99 you can grab a Toshiba HD-A3 player along with 7 movies. While CompUSA seems nice enough to let customers know that these players are basically a dead format I can imagine that other retailers will not be quite as nice.

Sadly these HD DVD sales will most likely continue to occur until these stores run out of inventory, hopefully they will not attract any customers thinking they are actually getting a deal. I could see the not so informed shopper think they are getting a great deal on a “next-generation” player when they are actually buying a dead format, these sales should all have to come with warnings.

Its nice to see an honest move from CompUSA, and this actually would make a nice up-converting player, if you were in the market for such a player.

Keep reading for the full ‘warning’ letter from CompUSA…

Amazon’s HD DVD deal; 50% off 150 movies

by Robert Nelson on Feb 15, 2008 at 08:21 PM

With all the recent HD DVD trouble, it is only fitting that Amazon has chosen to have a “limited time only” sale on 150 HD DVD movies. This may be the perfect time for any HD DVD player owners to start stocking up on some movie titles, with the way things are shaping up you may not be able to find any available selection in the not too distant future.
