Is Rogers planning to introduce the Palm Pro on September 17?

Is Rogers planning to introduce the Palm Pro on September 17

Rogers may not always have the best pricing when it comes to their handsets or data plans, but its hard to argue the fact that they are building an awesome collection of available phones. Consider just recently we have seen both the iPhone 3G and BlackBerry Bold become available, and the latest rumor has them releasing the Palm Pro with a September 17 launch date.

The Palm Pro, as we have recently learned has a decent set of specs, albeit a slightly disappointing Centro like keypad, but otherwise its a little more of what we were hoping for in a Palm device. The Palm Pro features a 320 x 320 touchscreen display, 2-megapixel camera, a microSD card slot, GPS, Wi-Fi, and 3G (HSDPA) support. It is also running Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional.

Currently there has not been any information available as to the pricing, however it was released in Europe for €399, and will hit the US as an unlocked handset for $549. As always when we find out some more details, you will be the first to know.

by Robert Nelson on Aug 21, 2008 at 01:47 PM

Rogers Wireless BlackBerry Bold Officially Available

Of course, we already knew that today was the day that they BlackBerry Bold was moved to the available status for Rogers Wireless customers, however we can also give you the rest of the disappointing news that comes along with it.

First up, and perhaps most upsetting is the price. The BlackBerry Bold will retail for $399.99. And in addition that $399 comes along with the standard three-year agreement and requires a data plan totaling more than $45 per month.

Rogers makes the BlackBerry Bold official, available August 21

by Robert Nelson on Aug 20, 2008 at 03:08 PM

It was a launch that at times seemed like it was never going to happen, and now that it has officially been confirmed by Rogers, potential customers have just about 24 hours left to wait before they are able to purchase a BlackBerry Bold of their own.

Sadly Rogers has not released any pricing details, I guess they are intent on making everyone wait to the very last minute for everything. However, according to RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie it will be priced between $300 and $400 and will be aimed at business users, which seems to fit in nicely with the rumored price of $399. Of course, I can imagine most potential customers are hoping it will come in a little less expensive, possibly something a little closer to the pricing of the 16GB iPhone.

Now we just have to wait for AT&T to finally gets things in order and release the Bold for the rest of us here in the US, which hopefully will not be that much longer.

More Rogers BlackBerry Bold information; pricing, availability

Rogers BlackBerry Bold Announcement Invitation

Some good news has come for Rogers users waiting for the BlackBerry Bold, thanks to a recently surfaced invitation, we now know that the Bold will be officially unveiled on August 21, which should mean that it will be available on that day, if not very soon afterward.

In addition to the release date, we also have some more pricing information for you. We recently saw the promo flyer with the $399 three year agreement pricing, however it has also come to light that the Bold will be available contract free. Of course it is significantly more expensive, but sometimes the lack of contract may be worth the extra money. However, personally at $649.99, I would much rather have the contract.

BlackBerry Bold pricing gets official with Rogers

by Robert Nelson on Aug 15, 2008 at 10:14 PM

Rogers promo flyer leaks official BlackBerry Bold pricing

Rogers official pricing for the BlackBerry Bold has been leaked courtesy of a promo flyer, and it comes as a little bit of good and a little bit of bad.

So, the good news is that this pricing leak combined yesterdays delivery of the super-sized promo Bold just further cements the rumored August 19 launch date.

The bad news, as you would expect is that the handset will not be as inexpensive as we had hoped. I guess we should not be all that surprised with Rogers past history, however it would have been a little nicer had it been priced a little closer to the 16GB iPhone. Instead it will be a bit higher coming in at $399.99 which comes along with the standard three year agreement.

Super-sized BlackBerry Bold lands at Rogers, August 19 launch looking good

Super-sized BlackBerry Bold lands at Rogers

The latest rumored launch date of August 19 for the BlackBerry Bold with Rogers seems like it just may come true. Of course, Rogers has still not officially confirmed this date, but thanks to some pics posted over on HowardForums we can see that at least some locations have begun to receive the official Bold Launch kit.

We have recently seen a few carriers launch the Bold, but sadly North America has been left out until this point. We can only hope that Rogers will be able to follow through on this latest rumored date, and that AT&T will not be much longer afterward.

Facing competition Nokia begins to slash phone prices

by Robert Nelson on Aug 2, 2008 at 05:31 PM

Recent reports are claiming that Nokia has begun to make some price cuts on selected music and media phones, in some cases up to 10-percent. In addition to the selected music and media models, Nokia has also made some smaller price cuts across the rest of their models. The Nokia 5310 and 5610 music phones as well as the 8GB N81 saw the largest cuts.

These price cuts come as a response to increased competition in the mobile phone market, however Nokia still holds a solid 40 percent overall, and this news will just make it a little tougher on some of their competition.

BlackBerry Bold gets delayed again on AT&T, Rogers

by Robert Nelson on Jul 26, 2008 at 12:12 PM

Things are not looking up for the highly-anticipated BlackBerry Bold. With further delays now expected from AT&T, it is also seeing a slight delay with Rogers in Canada.

The BlackBerry Bold will still be available for Canadian customers long before it hits here in the US, however it was supposed to have been officially available yesterday, July 25 and that of course did not happen. Rogers has pushed that launch back to July 29.

Luckily its just being delayed a week, and not nearly as bad as what we are seeing here in the US.

Rogers slashes Nokia N95 price to $199

by Robert Nelson on Jul 18, 2008 at 02:16 PM

Canadian smartphone users who are either boycotting or simply not interested in the iPhone 3G will now have another solid option to choose from, and at an affordable price to boot.

Rogers Wireless has announced that they have dropped the price of the Nokia N95 down to just $199. Of course that new low price still comes along with the same three-year agreement, but that seems to be the standard with Rogers.

Sounds like a good deal, now you can get the N95, a great smartphone for about half of what it was priced at before and don’t forget, you can also take advantage of that limited time data plan that offers 6GB or monthly transfer for $30 a month.

Rogers now offering their $30 6GB data plan for additional 3G smartphones

by Robert Nelson on Jul 17, 2008 at 11:43 AM

Rogers extends $30 6GB data plan to other 3G smartphones

Rogers has announced that they are making their promotional $30 6GB data plan available for five additional smartphones. The new data plan which is still available for just a limited time, began from the backlash of the iPhone 3G data plan announcement.

Since that came about, Rogers has added a plan that offers 6GB of monthly data transfer for $30 a month. The plan will now, in addition to the iPhone 3G also be available with the Nokia N95, Samsung Jack, Palm Treo, Motorola Q9h and the HTC TyTN.

While this is a nice offer, sadly this is still just a limited time offer,” we can only hope that Rogers will finally decide to be smart when it comes to mobile data and make this permanent offering.
