BlackBerry handsets get Windows Live Messenger

by Arnold Zafra on Jul 23, 2008 at 09:35 AM

Windows Live Messenger for the BlackBerry

RIM maybe a tad late when it comes to bringing the Windows Live Messenger onto their BlackBerry handsets, but it still maybe worth the wait after all, and for some it will be a welcome addition to the BlackBerry’s already useful functionality. Utilizing push technology for receiving e-mails and messages, the Windows Live Messenger features custom status messages, log chats, ability to display pictures, use more than 60 emoticons, and can send and receive pictures and files.

With the simple Windows Live Messenger application now available for the BlackBerry, we could only hope that Microsoft and RIM would also release the Windows Live Hotmail sometime soon. The Windows Live Messenger can be downloaded into your BlackBerry devices by pointing your device’s web browser to http://www.blackberry.com/livemessenger/.

BlackBerry Bold heading to T-Mobile, in Germany

by Robert Nelson on Jul 18, 2008 at 04:35 PM

BlackBerry Bold for T-Mobile Germany

So sad for those hoping that the BlackBerry Bold would be landing shortly at T-Mobile here in the US, but instead pricing information has been announced for T-Mobile Germany.

The price is set at €219.95 (about $350 US), which is a bit higher than the $299 that has already been announced for Rogers, which will begin offering their version next Friday on July 25.

T-Mobile Germany currently has the available date simply listed as July, with the option to reserve now, but it is rumored to be coming on July 21, which is this Monday.

Coming back to the US release, at this time we have only seen a confirmation come from AT&T, but they are still having trouble setting an official availability date.

BlackBerry Bold for Rogers gets priced, $299

by Robert Nelson on Jul 15, 2008 at 05:39 PM

It was just about a week ago that we first began hearing that the BlackBerry Bold would make its debut with Rogers for the low price of $199, and while it may have just been a week, that price has since been deemed inaccurate.

The new listed price will instead be $299, which of course as standard with Rogers comes along with a three-year agreement. Coming from the early reviews that have been showing up on the web, it seems that while the $199 price tag would have been really nice, the $299 is still going to be more than fair.

Of course, the pricing is still yet to be officially confirmed, however the Bold is expected to be available on July 25, so it should not be much longer before we all know for sure..

BlackBerry Bold gets the FCC approval

by Robert Nelson on Jul 10, 2008 at 10:14 AM

BlackBerry Bold gets the FCC approval

Still looking at some possible delays for the US AT&T release, the BlackBerry Bold has just gotten its FCC seal of approval. Not much new information coming from the FCC listing, but it does confirm that it will be the GSM with UMTS 850/1900 version, which is what would be needed for an AT&T release.

Hopefully now that the FCC approval is out of the way, RIM and AT&T can get all the issues causing the delay sorted out, as of the last report it looks like it was delayed until August. Of course, Rogers is ready to set it wild on July 25.

BlackBerry Thunder still under major development

by Robert Nelson on Jul 9, 2008 at 06:13 PM

The eagerly anticipated BlackBerry Thunder seems to need a little more time, according to a tipster from within RIM, the Thunder is not even close to hitting the market.

“Thunder is in no way shape or form market-ready. If Bold was any indication, Thunder won’t be ready for at least another 4-5 months.”

It looks like there are a bunch of issues with some important and key features. Just to begin with it looks like the keyboard is horrible to actually use and the accelerometer works, but has a tendency to go “bonkers” when the device is moved in certain ways. In addition the UI is apparently slow and lags with the haptic feedback also showing some problems.

Just to give you an idea of just how bad the Thunder is in its current state, the tipster went on to mention that “most of the people who have handled it thinks it’s a joke.”

Well, at least in its current state the Thunder is not going to steal any thunder from Apple, AT&T and the iPhone 3G. Lets just hope they get the issues worked out and in the hands of those waiting Verizon customers soon.

BlackBerry 9500

That’s right folks, some new exclusive shots of the upcoming Blackberry Thunder, which is officially called the BlackBerry 9500 have been leaked. The new BlackBerry 9500 will feature a large 360 x 480 touchscreen display and we also found that it will allow users to buy songs from their device via a mobile music store similar to iTunes. It is also expected to be running OS 4.7.

In addition, this new BlackBerry will also boast of a portrait media player that would be perfect for watching movies and videos while you are on the move. We’ll keep an eye for more developments, but in the meantime keep reading to check out a few more images.

Rumor: BlackBerry Kickstart to land with T-Mobile for $49.99?

by Robert Nelson on Jul 4, 2008 at 12:32 PM

Some more information has been leaking about in regards to the upcoming BlackBerry Kickstart and thankfully this time it was not another set of blurry images. Instead its some speculation based on just how much RIM is planning to charge for this little clamshell BlackBerry.

We have already heard that it was headed to T-Mobile and it looks like it will land there in September, but the latest information is calling for this to be a very affordable handset. Coming in at just $49.99 with a two-year agreement. Which assuming this is accurate would have it even less expensive than the popular and low-cost Palm Centro. At that price I think that RIM could have a winner on their hands.

AT&T BlackBerry Bold having problems, delayed possibly until August

by Natesh Sood on Jun 25, 2008 at 06:31 PM

The highly anticipated BlackBerry Bold may be on track in Canada, however it seem to be having issues and will be delayed for while here in the US. The new date of it’s release is sometime in August, and although according to BGR this has been confirmed by “two high-level sources,” it is has not been officially confirmed from AT&T at this time.

AT&T and the manufacturer of Blackberry, RIM, are reported to be having problems with the software, battery life and overheating problems. It looks like AT&T and RIM have disappointed a lot of people recently, and now with this, people are just going to be more and more annoyed. Hopefully they can get these problems sorted out soon and maybe it could be launched earlier than August. Stay tuned for more information on this as it becomes available.
