Peep Show: Hands on with Sprint’s new Motorola Q

by Doug Berger on Jan 25, 2007 at 03:32 AM

sprintq1.jpg

We had a chance to play with Sprint’s new Motrola Q at CES this year, but haven’t had one in our possession until now.  The phone is very similar to its Verizon counterpart, but takes on a sprint theme and charcoal-gray casing.  It also comes loaded with Sprint’s On Demand service which includes live Sprint TV and more.  [More about Sprint’s Moto Q here] The Q is $199 with a 2 year contract, and $449 with no contract at all.  Without further adieu, click on for more photos.

T-Mobile Dash goes back-to-back with Motorola Q, Palm Treo

by Doug Berger on Oct 12, 2006 at 02:07 PM

Motorola Q Palm Treo T-Mobile Dash

The guys over at Gizmodo have made a little size comparison chart with the two popular smartphones, the Moto Q and Palm Treo - and thrown in the new guy on the block, T-Mobile Dash.  As you can see, the Q and Dash are almost the same size while the Treo is as well - until you take into account its gurth (great word).  It’s twice the thickness of the other two competitors...which is just plain sad.  Palm, lets get a thin Treo already, ehh?

Samsung’s ready to release another smartphone to go up against the likes of the Motorola Q.  The SGH-i600 is a Windows Mobile powered GSM 900/r1800/1900 phone - meaning it will most likely be for Cingular / T-Mobile.  It also features EDGE for high speed internet, HSDPA, 802.11b/g for all of your WiFi needs, Bluetooth, 1.3 megapixel camera, a camera in front for video calls, 320 x 240 TFT display, Microsoft’s Push Mail, 128MB ROM, 64MB RAM, and a microSD slot.  Best of all, the FCC has already approved it - so there isn’t much more waiting to do.  Get ready GSM peeps, soon you’ll have a thin Windows Mobile phone too!

by Adam Berger on Aug 23, 2006 at 08:27 PM

Vaja Motorola Q

The Vaja case for the Q comes in two varieties, both with the same hand craftsmanship and style as you expect from Vaja. The first is the M0111 classic case. Starting at $60 this is the classic slip in case with openings and cutouts for all important aspects of the smartphone (camera, speaker, mic, screen, keypad, etc.). An added benefit is a screen protector so you don’t get that sharp screen all scratched up.

For those of you who require more protection and expansion card storage the Vaja M0112 classic is your best bet. For $80 (and up) you get a leather case with all the same cutouts, a spot for 2 memory cards, and a magnetic snap closing screen/keypad guard.

So for all of you Moto loving Sprint subscribers, get ready for your world to become a whole lot thinner.

Moto Q’s XM and Slingbox capabilities

by Adam Berger on Jun 11, 2006 at 04:06 AM

The folks over at Qusers have done a pretty extensive review of the Motorola Q’s capabilities and features. More interesting is their vid of the Q accessing XM Satellite Radio as well as their Slingbox. I was impressed with the video quality of the Slingbox and audio of both, making the Q that much more of a all-in-one device.

See the Qusers run-through part I and II.
