Asus Eee PC 900 almost available, but pre-orders are plenty

by Robert Nelson on May 10, 2008 at 06:16 PM

With the release of the Eee PC 900 quickly approaching, we are beginning to see more and more pre-order options opening up. The official release date is this coming Monday, which is May 12, but in case you cannot hold out any longer here are a few online retailers that are giving you the option to get your order in early.

We have already mentioned the listing over at ExcaliberPC, but now joining them are J&R, Buy.com and Amazon, all of which have the notebook listed for $549. For those willing to place their order early, let’s just hope the Eee PC 900 does not experience any shipping delays.

CTL 2Go PC now available for pre-order

by Robert Nelson on May 7, 2008 at 04:34 PM

CTL 2Go PC

CTA officially announced the 2Go PC back in early April and just now the first pre-order options are beginning to surface. Amazon being the first, currently has the 2Go PC available as a pre-order in either the Windows XP Home version for $469 or the Linux version for $399. Currently Amazon is not listing any estimated time as to when they will be ready to ship.

Aside from the obvious difference in the OS, specs are the same across both models. The 2Go PC from CTL will be available in a lovely shade of “bone/grey” and feature a 9-inch display with a 800 x 480 resolution, a 900MHz Celeron processor, 512MB of RAM, 40GB hard drive and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g. The 2Go PC will also include a built-in card reader, built-in 0.3-megapixel webcam as well as have USB and an Ethernet port for added connectivity.

First Asus Eee PC 900 pre-orders now available

by Robert Nelson on May 6, 2008 at 08:48 AM

While we already have the launch date confirmed as May 12, we are now beginning to see pre-orders opening up. The first to be found is coming courtesy of ExcaliberPC and the notebook is listed for $549 with an estimated availability of “Mid of May 2008,” which is just in line with the already confirmed launch date from Asus. They currently have the white model with either Linux or Windows XP available for pre-order.

The Eee PC 900, as we have already learned will feature an 8.9-inch display with a 1024 x 600 resolution, 1GB of RAM, 1.3-megapixel webcam, FingerGlide capable trackpad and built-in card reader. The Linux based version will offer 20GB total storage, and the Windows based version will have 12GB total storage. The notebook is also currently being listed with free shipping, although we are unsure if that is standard or just a limited offer.

HP quietly pushing up the shipping dates for the Mini-Note 2133

by Robert Nelson on Apr 13, 2008 at 07:10 PM

It seems that with each passing day the estimated shipping dates for the recently announced HP Mini-Note 2133 seem to be increasing. What began as an estimated shipping date of April 15 has quickly moved up to April 20. As Liliputing noted yesterday the estimated date was April 19, a quick check this morning showed it as of April 20, it seems the date is moving up by one every day. If you were looking or considering placing an order, you may not want to wait to long.

Although having the estimated shipping date seem to increase at such a rapid rate, we have to think that this is just based on popularity of the item and the amount being sold and not an actual product delay. I had placed an order fairly early after the announcement and have yet to receive any notification about a delay in shipping, hopefully the already placed orders will ship as originally expected.

HP 2133 Mini-Note now available for pre-order

by Robert Nelson on Apr 9, 2008 at 08:42 AM

HP 2133 Mini-Note PC Available for Pre-Order

The recently announced and highly praised HP Mini-Note UMPC is now available for pre-order. With pricing beginning on the low-end at $499 for a 1.0 GHz VIA C7-M ULV processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB SSD, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and running Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 and topping out at $849 for a 1.2 GHz VIA C7-M ULV processor, 1GB of RAM, 160GB 5,400 rpm hard drive, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth and running Windows Vista Home Basic.

Personally I would think the less expensive model that features a 1.6 GHz VIA C7-M ULV processor, 2GB of RAM, 120GB 7,200 rpm hard drive, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth with Windows Vista Business for $749 seems to be the better value. Either way, pre-order away.

[Update] New product page link with slightly different pricing, although the original link that I had below still works.

Apple ups MacBook to Core 2 Duo, pre-order today

by Doug Berger on Nov 9, 2006 at 03:18 AM

MacbookAmong talk of Apple upping their MacBook to Core 2 Duo, Play.com last week published, then later removed desciptions of the new models - Likely due to pressure from Apple to take it down.  It wasn’t long before Play.com decided it was OK to publish it again, because now they’re officially taking pre-orders for the new MacBooks.  The decription of the laptop includes a 2GHz processo, 512GB of RAM, and obviously the all new Core 2 Duo.  Also, according to Play.com, the new MacBooks have a release date of November 13, and will come in your standard white and black colors.  Pre-order today for £899.99 and £1029.99 respectively.

Halo 3 available for pre-order on BestBuy.com

by Adam Berger on Oct 1, 2006 at 06:44 PM

Halo 3Gamers rejoice, the most anticipated game of all time has begun to show some light. BestBuy.com has a product page and pre-order option available for the long awaited Halo 3, for Xbox 360. It is currently listed at $59.99 with a release date of 3/1/2007. Valid sources have told Gadgetell that we can expect the game much sooner than that, possibly even this fall, assuming the release schedule does not change.

Here is the hype:

The much-anticipated final chapter has arrived. Master Chief returns to finish the fight once and for all in order to finally end the epic conflict between the Covenant, the Flood and the entire human race. Experience a heart-pounding, dramatic climax to this popular video game franchise.

Next-generation graphics and technological advances, such as an enhanced artificial intelligence and an advanced real-time lighting engine, make the story come to life with stunning realism. Experience all-new weapons and characters as you struggle through tough challenges. You can even log online with Xbox Live and battle in exciting multiplayer action.

Update: Amazon also lists Halo 3 available for pre-order for $59.99 but for release on March 31, 2007. Why do I have a feeling that Halo 3 will be released way before these two dates…

Nintendo World New York taking preorders for the Wii

by Doug Berger on Sep 18, 2006 at 01:57 PM

Nintendo World

If you’re not down with swooping up a Nintendo Wii over the web here, you can now head into the new flagship store Nintendo World NYC and preorder today!  The preorder, just like F.Y.E. will require you to put $50 down (which we’re assuming goes towards the purchase price of $249).  It looks like they’ve only got 100-300 units available for preorder, so if you want one, head into the store ASAP (NOTE: Preorders cannot be made over the phone).  If you don’t live in NYC, have no fear because Nintendo isn’t expecting any shortages (like Microsoft with the Xbox 360), so heading into your local Best Buy, Wal-Mart or Target should do the trick.

The Wii is set to release on November 19th in the U.S. and December 8 in Europe.
