Peep Show: Samsung SCH-a990 3.2 megapixel camera phone

by Adam Berger on Aug 1, 2006 at 08:56 PM

Verizon Samsung SCH-a990 camera phone
Why carry a camera when you can grab this Samsung 3.2 megapixel camera camera phone. The a990 is currently offered on Verizon for $349.99 with a two year contract. You can take that number as $100 for the phone and $250 for the camera, making it over prices compared to a digital camera you would buy in a store today ($299 for 5+ megapixels), but hey there is a convenience factor. Click more for the rest of the peep show including a size comparison between the a900, Motorola RAZR, and LG Chocolate.

Peep Show: Samsung Q1 UMPC

by Adam Berger on Jul 12, 2006 at 04:50 AM

Samsung Q1

Here is a little peep show of the Samsung Q1, ultra-mobile PC. As we previously said our hands on time at Digital Experience was limited but still enough to offer a brief overview. The device is feature rich. Between the large touch screen to the processing specs to the OS, the Q1 can do what you need. There is an onscreen thumb keyboard as well as handwriting recognition and an onscreen QWERTY keypad for use with the stylus. The main issue is where the unit fits in amongst thin and light 12-13” laptops, PDAs Smartphones, the Sidekick, Sony’s UX, and other mini PCs. The Q1 won’t come close to fitting in a pocket nor in many pocketbooks. Heavy users have been offering nothing but accolades (besides the 3.5 hour battery life) for the Q1 and claim that they will never use a laptop again. Anyone else have any thoughts?

Check out the peep show.

Sprint Sanyo 6600 Katana Samsung A900 Blade
Sanyo’s new RAZR competitor the 6600, also known as ‘Katana’ has been released by Sprint. We previously previewed it in our Texas Tech and BBQ Peep Show, and now have a whole host of sexy, hands on images to show you. Above you can see it side-by-side with the thin Samsung A900.

The handset is dual band/tri-mode phone without EVDO (it is for Sprint Vision customers, not Power Vision). It has a VGA camera, Bluetooth, comes in four colors (Mystic Black, Blue Sapphire, and Cherry Blossom Pink, and Polar White). It sells for $79.99 with a 2 year contract, and only weighs in at a mere 3.5 ounces.

Check out a whole host of hands on images from a Sprint Store and Digital Experience, including a side-by-side with the Samsung A900.
