Elonex to introduce a $200 Linux based UMPC

Elonex One Linx-Based Ultra-Mobile PC

With the Linux-based ultra-mobile market heating up, it seems like everyone is wanting to have an offering. The latest is coming from Elonex, except this one does not appear to be that Eee PC killer that everyone is looking for. The price, if it is actually released at what it is anticipated at will be nice, it is expected to retail for £100 (about $200). Elonex plans to introduce the One to education markets, but will also be marketed to “adult learners, business users, people who are constantly mobile, elderly people and first time internet users.”

The Elonex One will feature a 7-inch 800x480 display, a 300 MHz X86 processor, 1GB of flash memory, three hours of battery life, weighing 2.2 pounds and running Linux. There will also be a more expensive version costing £120 that will include 2GB of flash memory and also Bluetooth.

Dell makes (PRODUCT) Red selection available

Dell (PRODUCT) Red

Dell has added their (PRODUCT) Red items to their website, officially they are offering the XPS One desktop, XPS M1330 laptop, XPS M1530 laptop and the 948 all-in-one printer.

The XPS One will offer $80 of the purchase price to the Global Fund and features a Intel Core2 Duo E4500 processor, 2GB RAM, 250GB hard drive, Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n), Bluetooth, 8-in1 card reader and a analog/digital TV tuner with remote control. The One also comes with a special (PRODUCT) Red version of Windows Vista Ultimate, Adobe Elements Studio and ships with a wireless keyboard and mouse. It retails for $1,599

TomTom releases the ONE in North America

TomTom has announced that the TomTom One will soon be available in North America for $499.  This bring another simple-to-use navigation system to the market.  According to TomTom, “there is no need to download complicated software, just start it up.” The North American version of the ONE comes with the latest maps of the continental USA and Canada.

The TomTom ONE weighs in at 6.5 ounces, and is packaged in a compact design measuring 3.8 in x 3.2 in x 1.0 in.  This slim size allows you to easily fit it in your pocket.  The device includes a 3.5 in LCD touch-screeen, a lithion-ion battery with 2 hours of life, and uses Bluetooth 2.0.

While you are in the car, you will have access to TomTom PLUS and at home you can access their Home services.  PLUS includes updated traffic and weather reports, and Home services include route planning and the ability to download map updates.  Look out for the ONE later in August.
