Rogers makes the BlackBerry Bold official, available August 21
It was a launch that at times seemed like it was never going to happen, and now that it has officially been confirmed by Rogers, potential customers have just about 24 hours left to wait before they are able to purchase a BlackBerry Bold of their own.
Sadly Rogers has not released any pricing details, I guess they are intent on making everyone wait to the very last minute for everything. However, according to RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie it will be priced between $300 and $400 and will be aimed at business users, which seems to fit in nicely with the rumored price of $399. Of course, I can imagine most potential customers are hoping it will come in a little less expensive, possibly something a little closer to the pricing of the 16GB iPhone.
Now we just have to wait for AT&T to finally gets things in order and release the Bold for the rest of us here in the US, which hopefully will not be that much longer.

Palm officially unveils the unlocked Treo Pro
Palm, once again has announced the Treo Pro, of course it seems this time it was made official, as they have released a press release, promo video and also added the newly designed Treo to their website.
This release is actually pretty exciting for a Treo, not only does the Pro have a nice clean design and decent features it will also be sold unlocked for $549 here in the US. Palm has yet to announce a specific date of release, however they have stated it will hit the market in September. Aside from the US, the Treo Pro will also be available through Vodafone and O2 in Europe and through Telstra in Australia.
T-Mobile officially confirms first Android phone before Christmas
This does not come as a huge surprise, after all we have seen many recent reports with the same timeline, but its still nice to have some official confirmation.
While they still are not offering up a specific launch date, T-Mobile has confirmed that the first Android powered phone would be available “before Christmas” but may come as early as October. They also mentioned that the handset would be coming from HTC, and although they did not confirm a specific model, it is believed to be the HTC Dream, and it will feature both a full touchscreen along with a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
At this point we can only hope that the Android powered Dream lands closer to the October end of the time frame, if nothing else the earlier launch would make perfect sense to make sure the fully benefit from the holiday shopping season.

BlackBerry Bold gets more official with its own website
AT&T has recently added the BlackBerry Bold in all its glory to their website. While tons of AT&T (and other carrier) customers have been focusing on nothing more than the iPhone 3G lately, both RIM and AT&T have also been getting ready to launch the BlackBerry Bold 9000.
The Bold will feature a 480 x 320 resolution display, have GPRS / EDGE / UMTS / HSDPA support, built-in Wi-Fi, built-in GPS, Bluetooth 2.0, 128MB of flash memory and will be powered by a 624MHz processor.
The Bold will also include 1GB of internal storage as well as a memory card slot that is accessible from the side, as opposed to hidden under the battery like other BlackBerry models.
The more I see the Bold featured, the more I consider moving back to the BlackBerry platform. While a specific launch date has not been released yet, one can only hope it lands close to the iPhone 3G, I for one would like to see some real competition.

Palm Treo 800w; complete, yet still unofficial specs
It looks like the full spec list for the upcoming Palm Treo 800w has been revealed. The 800w will be headed to Sprint in mid-July (rumored to be July 13) and then later coming to Verizon Wireless in Q3. While the list seems complete it does have at least one interesting item missing, notably a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. However with a slightly more updated look, this should make for a nice addition to the Treo lineup. Keep reading for the complete specs:
Mozilla to officially release Firefox 3 on June 17
We had already expected the release to come in mid-June and it looks like Mozilla has held that date true, they have officially announced that Firefox 3 will be available on June 17.
In addition, they have also, as we mentioned early yesterday, released an additional release candidate as RC3 that took care of a few last minute bugs found in the Mac version.
Otherwise start getting ready to download and install Firefox 3 on June 17, and don’t forget to help all of your not-so-computer literate friends and family members do the same.
In addition to the release, June 17 will also be the day that Mozilla is attempting to set the world record for the most software downloaded during a single day.

Sony Ericsson officially unveils the G502
As we mentioned just yesterday, and with little surprise Sony Ericsson has officially announced the G502, and I say officially because the folks over at the Unofficial Sony Ericsson Blog sort of beat them to the punch with an early announcement.
With this there is not much we do not already know, but the G502 is an “affordable” HSDPA candybar style handset that is touting some decent features. The G502 will feature a 2-inch 240 x 320 pixel resolution display, Bluetooth, 2-megapixel camera, an FM radio, RSS support, automatic email setup, Access NetFront Browser, Exchange ActiveSync support and has Google Maps for Mobile pre-installed. Asus makes the Eee PC 900 official
While we have already seen the details being confirmed and even have some reviews starting to pop up, Asus has decided to (finally) officially unveil the Eee PC 900 with a press release.
Overall most of the details were just as expected and the 900 should serve as a nice upgrade to the current 701 and also a welcome announcement for those who were holding out for the larger display. The Eee PC 900 will feature an 8.9-inch display with a much improved 1024 x 600 resolution, standard 1GB of RAM, an improved 1.3-megapixel webcam as well as the new FingerGlide trackpad. The 900 will also include the other standards such as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, built-in card reader, built-in speakers and microphone, Ethernet, three USB ports, a VGA-out and headphone jack.
LG Vu for AT&T finally gets all official
As expected, the LG Vu gets official today, following the recently released official specs and the speculation that it’s going to come in two different versions. Although AT&T could not be kind enough to include pricing info yet, it does say that the LG Vu will be available in May. It’s also confirmed to come in two versions, one that has mobile TV support, and another one that does not. It boasts a full HTML Web browser coupled with HSDPA 3G. And with a haptic-enabled touchscreen-based user interface, you’ve got yourself another one of those iPhone wannabes. But I think it’s best not to judge the LG Vu on paper, and as always, it would be better to see how well it performs in real life.
