Dell’s Black Friday 2008 ads leaked
![]()
Black Friday, the day when consumers can generally expect to find some good deals, is thankfully just about upon us. With a few weeks before Thanksgiving here in the US, it seems now is about the right time for the deals to begin making their way into the public eye. Sadly, although Dell has plenty of deals listed for Black Friday, it seems that some are not as exciting as one would hope for.
To begin with, Dell is planning to offer the Inspiron Mini 9 for $299, which offers a $50 savings from the regular $349. The specs for that model include a 1.6GHz Atom processor, a 4GB SSD, 512MB RAM an 8.9-inch display and running Ubuntu 8.04.
Other notebooks that are on sale (and some that will offer a much greater savings) will be the Inspiron 13 for $699 (a $329 savings), the Studio 15 for $699 (a $245 savings), the Studio 17 for $799 (a $349 savings), the XPS M1330 for $1,029 (a $319 savings) and the XPS M1530 also for $1,029 (a $319 savings). More deals after the break.
You can help Intel, Asus design a PC online

Intel and Asus have just launched a site yesterday that allows everybody and anybody to help them to design a PC. WebPC is looking for collaborators to work together to help the two companies bring about a “community designed” PC. Their ultimate goal is to be able to actually market this community designed PC, as it would be the first like it in the world. With the motto of “You Dream it. ASUS Builds it. Intel inside it.“ on the front page, it’s easy to see how you can get lured in to being a part of the vision. Continued after the break.

The transition is expected to be completed by 2010.
Asus makes the N-Series notebook official

We already know so many details about the Asus N10 since its specs sheet was leaked not so long ago. A product listing at the J&R online store even appeared after the leaked specs sheet. But no official announcement has came out from Asus, until now. Asus Taiwan has officially announced not just the N10 notebook, but a family of N-Series notebooks comprising of the N10, N20, N80 and N50 models.
Featuring the “highly-efficient Super Hybrid Engine,“ these notebooks are supposed to be able to preserve battery life up to 35%. That 35% is “subject to system configuration.“ All four new notebooks come with the Express Gate operating system that starts up in 8 seconds to do common tasks such as Internet browsing and listening to music without booting into the full operating system. Asus has also put in a facial recognition system which eliminates the need to login using a keyboard.
