DataTraveler 100 4GB Flash Drive on sale at Newegg for $7.99

by Jodie Andrefski on Nov 11, 2008 at 05:10 PM

datatravelerIf Santa is looking for stocking stuffers, or if you are just looking for some portable storage at a good price, you may want to check out one of Newegg’s latest “Special Buys.“

Right now, they are offering the Kingston DataTravelor 100 4GB flash drive for just $7.99 complete with free shipping.

I’ve compare shopped the item at some other sites.  Overstock is actually asking $21.99 for the same item. (Which is just ridiculous, even Newegg doesn’t list that as the regular price). . . .

MSI Wind “Black Barebone” PC now available

by Robert Nelson on Aug 21, 2008 at 10:23 AM

MSI Wind Desktop PC available at NewEgg

NewEgg has recently begun shipping the low-cost MSI Wind PC desktop PC. Of course we say low-cost because it is priced at just $139.99, which sounds like a great deal, however you will need to spend a few extra bucks to fill it out.

The MSI Wind desktop PC is dubbed the “Black Barebone” and it seems to live up to its barebone name. The MSI Wind will feature a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, Intel GMA 950 integrated graphics, 8-channel audio, six USB ports, a 4-in-1 media card reader, CF card slot and a VGA output. However if you notice the specs carefully you would have seen a few key items that were missing, that’s right the “Black Barebone” does not ship with any hard drive, optical drive or RAM.

Of course on the flip side, this does give you a good base starting point and allow you to add the items that you need in terms of storage and RAM.

Good deal on The SIlencer PSU for back to school

by Jodie Andrefski on Aug 13, 2008 at 09:01 AM

The Silencer 610 EPS12V Power Supply

Newegg is offering a rather sweet deal right now on The Silencer 610 EPS12V Power Supply. Listing at an original price of $199.00 on their site (although Dell offers it for $109.00 and Amazon for $129.00), they are offering an instant $90 rebate, and also a $30 mail-in rebate to bring your final cost down to $79.00; beating any price I could find for this item on the net. (and yes, they still have the free three day shipping).

Very compact HP laser printer for $50 - perfect for back to school dorm rooms!

by Jodie Andrefski on Jul 31, 2008 at 03:26 PM

hplj1005

So it may not be the absolute top of the line when it comes to printing, but it sure isn’t bad either. If you are looking for a small printer for your bedroom or for sending your kids back to school, this could be something to look into. HP is offering their LaserJet P1005 for $129.99, but right now Newegg is selling them for a mere $49.99. (Plus $9.99 shipping) However, if you use the coupon code EMCAHCKBC, you can even get rid of that shipping charge. Hard to beat that price!

Users rated the printer 4 out of 5 “eggs” on the Newegg site. The printer is a 600-dpi laser that knocks out 15 pages per minute, and has a 150-sheet input tray. It has a USB interface, although the cable isn’t included.  It’s compatible with both Windows and Mac systems.  HP does supply a starter toner cartridge that should yield approximately 750 pages, and the actual replacement cartridges will give you double that number. Obviously, toner is kind of expensive, and since we can’t change the fact that printer consumables always are, it never hurts to get the best deal possible on the printer itself. And $50 for a laser is pretty hard to beat.

Totally compact, measuring at 14 inches by 9 by 8, this printer will work well in lots of small spaces. Like those tiny dorm rooms that magically need to fit a bed, a dresser, a computer, a fridge, four humans, and a partridge in a pear tree.

NewEgg Cloudbook Image

While the Cloudbook may have gotten off to a

rough very rough start, it seems we have some traction building. Initially you had to either make that purchase at ZaReason (who quickly dropped the Cloudbook after all those initial problems) or by placing your order, for delivery only at Wal-Mart.
