MSI unveils the colorful VR220 YS notebook lineup

MSI has just introduced a new and colorful notebook. This time they have strayed a little from the ever popular Wind, and released the VR220 YA Edition. Of course, this new notebook is still on the smaller side and considered an ultra-portable thanks to the 12.1-inch display. To begin with, the MSI VR220 YA will be available in a selection of four colors which include Denim Blue, Coral Pink, Wasabi Green and Empire Black.
So aside from the 12-inch display (which offers a 1280 x 800 resolution) and the fancy exterior colors, the VR220YA seems to be worthy of a purchase. Beginning at $699.99 the ultra-portable features a dual-core Pentium CPU with Intel’s GMA 4500M on the graphics side. Other features include up to 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, a Super-Multi DVD drive, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, a 3-in-1 card reader and a 1.3-megapixel webcam. The VR220 YA also has three USB 2.0 ports, gigabit Ethernet, a VGA out, along with an optional TV tuner and up to an 8-cell battery.

MSI intro’s the Neton all-in-one desktop PC lineup

MSI has recently unveiled their all-in-one desktop PC lineup, which has been dubbed the MSI Wind Neton. The PCs will be available in three models, the M16, M19, and M22 all of which offer touchscreen displays, are being powered by Atom processors and have the option to include a TV tuner.
To begin with, the M16 features a 15.6-inch display with a 1366 x 768 resolution and will also have a DVD burner. Next up we have the M19, which has a slightly larger display coming in at 18.5-inches with a resolution of 1366 x 768. Finally, closing it out, we have the full HD-capable M22. This model features the largest display of the bunch coming in at 22-inches with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. The M22 can also be configured with a Blu-ray drive and a remote control.
As for the processing power, as mentioned earlier, they are being powered by Atom processors. The Wind Neton can be ordered with either Windows XP or Windows Vista. The XP models will have single-core processors while the Vista models will have dual-cores.
Still unannounced was any information regarding storage and memory. As for availability, the M19 is expected first and it will start at $500 depending on configuration, the M16 will follow in February and begin at $400 with the M22 coming in March 2009 with prices starting at $799.

MSI Wind drops to $349 at Best Buy

With recent rumors that an updated MSI Wind will be coming soon, this price cut is not much of a surprise, but it is still welcomed. Best Buy, which has just recently began selling the MSI Wind netbook, originally had it selling for $399. Now it is just $349.99, which means another reason to grab a Wind, that is if you were considering a netbook purchase.
This price cut may have me reconsidering the Eee PC 1000h I was about to hit the checkout button for. Sadly, the one drawback is the fact that it is currently listed as backordered, but if you can handle waiting a bit, this looks to be a great price.
The MSI Wind that you will find at Best Buy is running Windows XP and features a 10-inch display, 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor, 120GB hard drive and 1GB of RAM. Additionally, it sports three USB ports, and Ethernet port, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, a built-in card reader and a built-in 1.3-megapixel webcam. You know, the typical netbook specs.

MSI GX730 gaming notebook features a turbo button to increase CPU speed at will
“The time to experience the most shocking realism in gaming is NOW!“ Yes, that’s how MSI wants us to experience with their new gaming notebook dubbed the GX730.
Its display alone via a 17-inch LCD monitor coupled with an ATi Mobility Radeon HD 3650 graphic card already sends a signal that the GX730 is out to conquer the gaming notebook market. The GX730 also features multimedia functionality with a Dolby Theater Class 5 speaker system. More after the break.
MSI estimated to sell 700,000 Wind netbooks this year
MSI is expected to reach sales of somewhere between 600,000 and 700,000 units for their Wind netbook. Although it sounds like a big difference from the 4 million that Asus has sold, MSI is coming in well above their initial goal of 500,000.
The higher than expected sales are due in part because of “white-box vendors” in Europe and Southeast Asia who have purchased the Wind netbook and then resold it under their own brand. Of course, without the surge and popularity of the netbook in general right now, those “white-box vendors” may have been looking elsewhere for products.
In addition to the success with the Wind, MSI has stated that they are also expecting to sell 800,000 to 1 million of their own branded notebooks this year. Assuming their sales figures are accurate, we may see MSI overtake Samsung for a top ten worldwide vendor position.
