Motorola V3x 3G handset
After Motorola announced the 50 millionth RAZR, I decided to snoop around their site and see what else the company has in-store for us. I found a handset that seems to be a refreshed RAZR, and with 3G capabilities. I know it isn’t new, but here is the info on the V3x, not to be confused with this new shiny model, the Canary/RAZR 2/ K1.
Motorola RAZR V3x offers real-time 2-way video calling via a VGA front mounted camera, still and moving image capture and editing, SCREEN3 (offering zero-click access to news, sports, entertainment, and other premium content directly from your home screen), a 2 megapixel camera with 8x zoom, macro mode, and LED flash, stereo Bluetooth, and removable memory. The handset supports AAC+, MPEG4, WMV, WMA, MP3 and Real video/audio files.
The Motorola RAZR V3x was expected to be available in Q4 2005. It is not clear if it has been replaced with the new model, which is not 3G, or is just on hold for right now.
The Motorola K1 / Canary / RAZR 2 takes one step closer to reality
When originally discovered the Motorola RAZR replacement, the “Canary”, was going to be released with five new features sometime in 2007. Since then we have seen live shots of the camera, but still limited details. The thought that this model would take until 2007 seemed unlikely. Now we have even more reason to believe that the handset will be released sometime this year, as the FCC has signed off on the model, classified as the K1. It is a quad-band GSM phone with EDGE support, not 3G. Suspected specs still include a 176x220 pixels 262k color LCD screen, 2 megapixel camera with auto-focus and flash, a microSD slot, and Bluetooth v1.2 (providing stereo audio and Generic Audio/Video Distribution).
Cingular goes blue with the RAZR
Now that every one and their mother has a Motorola RAZR, I expect the sales have begun to slow a bit, leaving the company feeling blue. BLUE! What a great ideas, Moto has released every single other color for the RAZR, why not blue?
Cingular has just scored the new blue RAZR, V3 model. Besides the somber color change the rest of the specs are the same. In case you were a little too happy, go out and get that new blue RAZR...and if you’re sad cheer up because now it matches your jeans. But don’t get too excited because it will still set you back $99 (with a $50 mail in rebate), while Verizon’s music RAZR only costs $69.

Shots of the Motorola Canary (RAZR 2)
Mr. Peter Rojas over at Engadget and Engadget Mobile had the unique opportunity to play doctor with the new Motorola RAZR replacement--currently codenamed Canary. The phone is not expected to replace the RAZR until 2007, but it seems that working models are already out in the wild. To me the phone seems nice, but different than the RAZR. This one certainly won’t see the same demand as the RAZR, unless it has some amazing specs (and 2 MP camera is the only above average spec we have heard thus far).

Motorola RAZR V3m with V-Cast
Verizon Wireless and Motorola today announced the launch of the Motorola RAZR V3m V CAST music-enabled phone. This device was announced a few months ago in April at CTIA 2006, together with the entry-level Motorola W315.
The Motorola RAZR V3m is the CDMA version of the original RAZR V3 handset. It features a 1.3 megapixel camera, video capture and playback, music player up to 1GB of removable MicroSD memory and speech recognition calling. The big deal is the new V-Cast availability so you can download music, wallpaper, video and more to your handset, as well as access Verizon’s music store.
You can get the Motorola RAZR V3m for $149.99 after a $50.00 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement.

Verizon enables file transfer and Bluetooth on the RAZR
Verizon has finally given in and is offering a firmware update (that must be done at a Verizon store) to allow file transfers with the Motorola RAZR V3c. The upgrade allows you to connect you RZR to Motorola Phone Tools which will let you transfer multimedia back and forth. Even better, the RAZR V3c can now transfer files to and from your PC with Bluetooth because Verizon has once again enabled OBEX (OBject EXchange). There have also been reports that this upgrade speeds up the menus...finally.
