Netgear’s new “green” machines

netgear_wirelessnWith the number of home-based entertainment and productivity applications that are running over home networks growing by leaps and bounds, some Wireless-G routers just can’t handle users’ demands.

Netgear saw this problem, and as a result, developed a new Wireless-N technology, which they feel is leaps and bounds above anything out there now.  The “Green” crowd will also appreciate Netgear’s new products since they are eco-friendly.

Sprint, Sierra Wireless announce ‘smallest’ broadband modem, the Compass 597

Sprint and Sierra wireless have announces the countries smallest USB broadband modem – the Compass 597. The modem measure only 1.2 x 2.4 x 0.4-inches and weighs a mere 0.7-ounces, but don’t be misled by its size, because this tiny little device is packed with features. First, as a US modem, the Compas 597 offers an average 600kbps-1.4mbps down and 350-500kbps up. The Compass 597 also has a GPS feature through Sprint’s Location Service which is available to Sprint broadband subscribers. Sierra Wireless and Sprint also threw in an integrated microSD card slot for memory storage expansion, which has support for up to 32GB cards.

Rogers to intro the Novatel X950D, MC950D data cards

Rogers X950D ExpressCard Model

Rogers has just announced the addition of two new high speed data modems, the Novatel X950D and the MC950D. Both modems are tri-band HSPA and Quad-Band EDGE/GPRS and according to Novatel are made to offer “maximum performance and durability.“ The X950D is an ExpressCard modem and the MC950D is a USB modem.

While Rogers has announced the modems they are not yet available, the X950D and the MC950D are both set to be released later this summer, both will retail for $49.99 with a three-year agreement.
