Google’s “Lively” is gonna be dead
![]()
My, my Google. That was quick. I’ll just bet you’re a ton of fun on a date. Launched just this past July, Google’s “Lively” program (in hindsight, one can’t help but chuckle at the name they chose), is already being killed off. I can hear the trumpets in the background as I type.
I guess all those risque room names and sex rooms weren’t even enough to keep you afloat, though they did cause quite a stir. But, even that wasn’t enough to keep the public’s interest focused on this dying program. Poor Google. I guess you aren’t the King of All things Internet after all…at least not when your “idea” is one you pretty much just copied. Continued. . .
Google’s “Lively” getting a little TOO lively for some
![]()
Google’s new online virtual world program “Lively” is causing a bit of a stir for some users. It seems it has become a tad too lively in some of it’s rooms. Apparently there have been some “sex rooms” created in the virtual world, and a few users are complaining. Complaints which Google isn’t taking lightly.
“Our community standards prohibit sexually explicit images and rooms intended for sexual activity, even if virtual. When we become aware of ‘sex rooms’ that violate our Terms of Service, we’ll work to remove them.“
Google’s net reach broadens with their “Lively” take on “Second Life”
Net giant Google just revealed their plans to release their version of living in a virtual world with the online 3D social arena “Lively.“ Unlike the program “Second Life”, Lively allows users to enter “their world” via IE or Firefox after the initial download and installation of the program. You can make use of integrating the Internet in several ways, bring in your photos or videos that you have hosted online, email your friends inviting them to join, or use the special pre-written widgets to embed your Lively area on your blog. Currently it doesn’t work with MySpace, they are still working on that one.
“It’s integrated with the Internet. It’s not an alternate destination,“ said Niniane Wang, Google’s engineering manager for the project. “Our intention is to add to your existing life.“
