LG’s hot new touchscreen at AT&T
Check out this one: LG’s Incite. The 3G world phone has some impressive features as well as an interesting price tag: $199. The lineup of $199 touchscreen phones in the AT&T stable is getting crowded. So how is this one different?
The Incite features Windows Mobile 6.1, so it plays well with the MS Office docs, Outlook and the like. It’s camera is a 3mp jobber and the 3” display has 240x480 QVGA going for it. A bonus stylus tells you fingers may or may not be the best input device. As a note, the Samsung Epix also offered a stylus and I found most tasks (save for clicking the close box in the upper left) were easily done with fat fingers.
Interestingly the screen is haptic (a buzzing is made so you can feel when pressing keys) and the onscreen keyboard comes in two varieties: a basic QWERTY keyboard in landscape or a 20 key keyboard in portait. The switching between the two is automatic based on the devices orientation.
Other bonus features include aGPS, WiFi and Bluetooth; staples for any business user. Also in there is AT&T’s video share, “the first-ever service in the U.S. that allows users to share live video over wireless devices while participating in a voice call.“ The unit has an SD memory slot that is 16GB card compatible according to the press release but the AT&T site disagrees, saying it can handle 32GB.

Who’s On Crack in tech: 11.07.08 edition
This is where we call out the tech moves that seem odd, out of touch or just plain straight up smokin’ crack. This week sees posturing, positioning and flat out insanity. Here is what caught my eye this week:
Follow to see me call out:
- LG and its ridiculously square phone
- AT&T thinks Android is on crack
- Sprint thinks we want to watch football (American) on our phones.
- Moto wants to be on crack

LG Lotus: clamshell QWERTY phone anyone?
So RIM said they couldn’t put together a BlackBerry Flip with a full QWERTY keyboard. LG said, “We can.”
Take a look at the LG Lotus that will be available on the Sprint network. It’s a flip phone with a full QWERTY keyboard and an odd square form factor.
What else does it do outside of being a texting machine? The Lotus comes with GPS navigation, music player (which works with the Sprint Music Store), Bluetooth, and a 2.0MP camera that also does video. LG claims over 5 hours of talk time and the phone weighs in at 3.7 ounces.
You can pick one up in black or purple at $149.99 if you grab it alongside a
two year contract.

The LG Renoir has Schneider-Kreuznach optics, Xenon Flash, auto and manual focus ISO sensitivity up to 1600 and a feature which is quite popular lately - geotagging. But the most interesting camera feature of the LG Renoir has something to do with its touch-screen interface.

LG’s bargain touchscreen phone
Hit by hard times? Financial markets got you worried about dropping bucks on a shiny new phone? LG feels your pain and wants to reach out to all those folks who want the sexy touchscreen-type phone with the aptly named KP500. KP as in “Kitchen Pass,“ as in you won’t need to check with your significant other to buy it thanks to its super low retail price. Unfortunately, I suspect LG did not name it the KP for that reason.

The Xnote Mini: LG joins the netbook party

The continuously growing netbook market welcomes a new member, this time it is LG Electronics which just announced the Xnote Mini netbook. Although Aving USA tagged the new LG machine as a mini-notebook, we’re still inclined to believe that the Xnote Mini should be called a netbook instead, if we are to judge it by the few specs and details available about the netbook. Actually, the Xnote Mini’s Intel Atom processor gave away the fact that it is really a netbook.
