Dell’s Inspiron 910 caught in the wild, and its running Ubuntu

by Robert Nelson on Aug 22, 2008 at 02:32 PM

Dell's Inspiron 910 caught in the wild, and its running Ubuntu

Based on previous leaked images we are likely to believe this is the real deal, because after all, isn’t it a rule that these always be blurry and slightly hard to look at. Of course we cannot confirm if these are truly the real deal, but deep down we hope they are.

Based on these images, this model seems a little nicer than the last leaked images, for one it does not seem nearly as shiny and prone to show every little flaw. However the keyboard does seem to be missing a few things, notably the function keys. Keep reading to check out another image of the Inspiron 910, along with another image of the configuration screen…

Dell Inspiron 910, more leaked images appear

by Robert Nelson on Aug 20, 2008 at 05:21 PM

Dell Inspiron 910 more leaked images appear

It seems like the avalanche of Dell Inspiron 910 leaks has begun, it was just a few days ago that we found out the specs and availability information, and now the latest leak comes in the form of some more images.

These latest images seem to offer a decent quality, but sadly do not offer much more in terms of official specs or pricing. From the images we can clearly see the headphone and microphone jacks, Ethernet, VGA, built-in card reader, power and its three USB ports but nothing overly exciting.

The Inspiron 910 does appear to be particularly shiny, which could be a potential downfall for some users as it will most likely show off every little scratch and fingerprint. Of course on the positive side, the power adapter seems to be nice and small, at least from these images it seems to be just a power adapter and not a brick. Keep reading to check out the rest of the images…

by Robert Nelson on Aug 19, 2008 at 05:01 PM

RIM's BlackBerry 8210, 8220 KickStart unveiled by Expansys

Without any official announcement from RIM, the upcoming BlackBerry 8210 and 8220 have both been unveiled by online retailer Expansys. Of course, the 8210 and the 8220 are better know as the KickStart, which marks RIM’s first venture into the clamshell market.

Thanks to their online retail appearance we can confirm they will be featuring an internal 2.6-inch display with a 320 x 240 resolution and external 160 x 128 resolution display. Other features include a 2-megapixel camera with flash and video recording capability, Bluetooth 2.0, microSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack and quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz) support.

T-Mobile’s upcoming BlackBerry lineup revealed

by Robert Nelson on Aug 9, 2008 at 08:23 PM

It looks like nothing but good news for BlackBerry loving T-Mobile users as there are a few new options coming available shortly.

First up we will see an expansion of the current Pearl 8120 lineup. Not the most exciting of additions, but lets get them out of the way before we move on to the real goodies. The Pearl 8120’s features will remain the same, but it will also be available in Tahitian Green, Indigo and Light Blue in addition to the currently available Ruby, Gold and Titanium.

Now that the 8120’s are out of the way, we can also tell you that the Kickstart (or possibly the Pearl 8220) will be available sometime in late September or early October and although the pricing has yet to be officially confirmed, the rumored $49.99 is still holding.

Asus Eee PC 900a gets spec’d

by Robert Nelson on Aug 4, 2008 at 01:04 PM

Asus Eee PC 900a

We have just recently seen the Eee PC 900a show its face in some leaked images, and although it seemed to be just another model in the never ending Eee PC lineup, we were hoping for something special.

Sadly, the specs have been revealed and honestly we are not really sure why Asus even bothered, its just another Eee. It will feature the 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor but that is about where the excitement stops.

Other features include what seems to be the standard now; an 8.9-inch display with a 1024 x 600 resolution, 1GB of RAM, built-in card reader, 0.3-megapixel webcam, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, VGA out, and three USB ports.

The Eee PC 900a will also be available in a 8GB or 16GB SSD option, but sadly Bluetooth will not be included. The 900a will be available beginning August 21 and retail for 299 EUR (around $465 US).

With all the different models and options now available, it seems that Asus should just make a few standard case sizes and then offer them in a selection of colors and allow the user to configure them as desired.

Leaked images show off the Asus Eee PC 900a

by Robert Nelson on Aug 3, 2008 at 05:46 PM

Leaked Image Asus Eee PC 900a

Although we were pleasantly surprised to see Asus returning to their roots with the recent information that surfaced showing off the new additions coming to the Eee PC 701 series, this latest image would normally just be chalked up as yet another model in the never ending Eee lineup.

However, we did notice one interesting bit worth mentioning, the newly pictured model is the Eee PC 900a, and although there has not been any official word, some speculation (and hope) is that the “a” is in place for Atom, as in the processor.

Otherwise, like I mentioned its just one leaked image as of now, but still it shows something to hope for, that is assuming you are not already burnt out on the never ending models of the Eee PC. Seriously Asus, I am a fan of the Eee lineup, I have one myself, but even I cannot keep up anymore with what you have going on. Lets try and bring it back to just being simple, low-cost, easy-to-use notebook like you started with.

Fujitsu Siemens Amilo netbook caught showing off its interchangeable lids

by Robert Nelson on Jul 30, 2008 at 04:26 PM

Fujitsu Siemens Amilo netbook with interchangeable colored lids

So far we have seen a leaked image, and a brief video, and now another video has surfaced showing off some cool looking interchangeable colored lids for the Amilo netbook, however we are still severely lacking any information on specs.

This latest video offers just another brief glimpse, and still does not offer any new details, aside from the colored covers.

Just to recap what we do have so far, the Amilo netbook is expected to feature an 8.9-inch display, retail for somewhere around €300 to €400 (around $475 to $635 US) and is rumored to be officially unveiled during IFA this August.

If nothing else it does look cool, hopefully it will offer a decent set of specs also. Keep reading to check out the video…

Fujitsu Siemens Amilo netbook gets captured on video

by Robert Nelson on Jul 26, 2008 at 02:35 PM

Fujitsu Siemens Amilo netbook

Just recently we showed off an image (pictured right) of what was reported to be the upcoming Amilo netbook from Fujitsu Siemens and it looks like it has since been caught on video.

Overall the video is nothing overly exciting, it simply offers a quick overview, but still, it somehow seems a little nicer to see a video as opposed to just a picture.

If nothing else this video certainly does show off the small size, at least when compared to the 17-inch notebook that its sitting on top of.

The Amilo netbook is expected to be officially unveiled during IFA in Berlin this August and retail in the ballpark of €300 to €400 (around $475 to $635 US).

Keep reading to check out the video…

Leaked image of the upcoming Fujitsu Siemens Amilo netbook

by Robert Nelson on Jul 16, 2008 at 02:48 PM

Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Netbook

The above picture features both the existing 17-inch Amilo notebook, which is along side Fujitsu’s upcoming entry into the netbook market. The 8.9-inch netbook is rumored to be coming this autumn and is expected to retail for €400, which is currently around $640 US.

Specs are still unknown, but based on the keyboard it looks like it will be running, or at least have the option for Windows Vista. One thing that we can tell for sure is that if Fujitsu is truly looking to compete in this market, they are going to need to pack something really special inside to justify that price, especially with the Dell E rumored to be coming in at $299.
