Kingston announces 64GB DataTraveler USB flash drive

by Robert Nelson on Nov 20, 2008 at 09:13 PM

Kingston announces 64GB DataTraveler USB flash drive

Portable storage seems to be increasing rather quickly, and the latest to see a nice increase is the DataTraveler 150 USB flash drive from Kingston.  The DataTraveler 150 is now available in storage capacities up to 64GB.  Personally, I am far from needing anything this large, but would imagine that there are plenty of people that will be happy to see this size available.

The one downfall here is the price, the MSRP is listed at $177.  Of course, you could always opt for the smaller 32GB, which is priced at a little more affordable $116.  Aside from the pricing, the DT150 has the usual features and support found with USB flash drives.  It is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems and measures in at 3.06 x 0.9 x 0.47-inches in size.

DataTraveler 100 4GB Flash Drive on sale at Newegg for $7.99

by Jodie Andrefski on Nov 11, 2008 at 05:10 PM

datatravelerIf Santa is looking for stocking stuffers, or if you are just looking for some portable storage at a good price, you may want to check out one of Newegg’s latest “Special Buys.“

Right now, they are offering the Kingston DataTravelor 100 4GB flash drive for just $7.99 complete with free shipping.

I’ve compare shopped the item at some other sites.  Overstock is actually asking $21.99 for the same item. (Which is just ridiculous, even Newegg doesn’t list that as the regular price). . . .

Kingston unveil’s 32GB SDHC card in the Elite Pro line

by Robert Nelson on Aug 13, 2008 at 09:13 PM

Kingston 32GB Elite Pro SDHC Flash memory card

Kingston’s Elite Pro line of SD cards just grew a little larger, now topping out at 32GB of storage. The new 32GB card joins the already existing lineup, which included a 4, 8 and 16GB card, and will retail for $308.

Personally, its a little expensive for my taste, but with today’s camera and camcorders capable of higher and higher qualities, it sounds like an option to at least consider. The 32GB Elite Pro SDHC card will be able to capture and store around 6,000 still images at a 10-megapixel quality or eight hours of video at a 6Mbps HD Extended recording quality.

Kingston unveils the “super thin” DataTraveler Mini Slim USB Flash drives

by Robert Nelson on Aug 6, 2008 at 05:03 PM

Kingston DataTraveler Mini Slim USB Flash drives

Kingston has recently announced the latest addition to their flash drive lineup, the DataTraveler Mini Slim USB Flash drives. These new drives are super small and thin, measuring in at just 1.529 x 00.645 x 0.253-inches which should make portability issues a thing of the past. Of course the danger with drives becoming smaller and smaller is the concern for of losing them grows, thankfully these have an option to attach it to something else such as a keychain.

The new Mini Slim USB drives will be available in either a 2GB or 4GB storage option and retail for $11 and $19 respectively. They are currently available and come in either black/grey, blue/grey or pink/grey color options.

Kingston offers full-proof data security with the DT BlackBox USB drive

by Arnold Zafra on Apr 21, 2008 at 03:01 PM

Kingston USB DataTravelerBlackBox

Kingston has introduced one of its most secured data storage device yet with the new DataTraveler BlackBox (DTBB). We’re finally talking about real data security here with a 256-bit hardware-based AES encryption that automatically locks itself after ten unsuccessful password attempts. Even the US Government was excited about the DataTraveler BlackBox, so much so, that it has given it an FIPS certification. FIPS certification is given to data devices which have passed the Federal standard for data management and security.

Going back to the USB drive itself, we learned that it comes in 2GB, 4GB or 8GB storage capacities and retail for $165, $242, and $424 respectively. While the DataTraveler BlackBox is more expensive than your standard USB flash drive, its not a bad price to pay for ensuring that your personal data security will not be breached.
