Aliph, the makers of the Jawbone Bluetooth headset have just begun offering a $20 discount for anyone who receives a ticket for breaking a hands free law. Simply put they are offering the discount “because having a conversation shouldn’t be a crime.“

So for those who have run into trouble with not being able to put the phone down, simply visit the Jawbone website and choose the headset color you want, enter the state where you received your ticket and the ticket number. Once that is entered, you will be able to get that $20 discount which will bring the overall price down to $109.99.

While its hard to think they are rewarding those who have broken the law, at least maybe this will help to keep at least a few people from holding a cell phone while driving.

While its always nice to have the latest and greatest when it comes to tech products, sometimes its a little more cost effective to get an older model. This comes in play with the Jawbone headset from Aliph, having recently release the new Jawbone that, well honestly is much nicer because its 50% smaller, but aside from the size the original Jawbone is a solid Bluetooth headset.

While it may not be the smallest around, it still offers a great sound quality, and what can top getting it for around half off the original $129 price. A few places are currently offering deals now, Amazon has the headset in black for $59.99 with shipping included, and Sixth Avenue Electronics currently has the headset in red for $48.88, of course they have a small shipping charge of $3.95. Still not a bad deal. I would imagine that these deals are both limited to stock on hand, so better not wait and miss out.

Guaranteed to turn heads on the streets of London, the San Francisco based Aliph recently announced that the Jawbone headset will now be available in the UK through a partnership with The Carphone Warehouse.

The new Jawbone Bluetooth headset is said to be 50% smaller than its earlier incarnation and boasts of cutting-edge technology in noise elimination.  In essence, beauty and utility are married in this stylish accessory. The new Jawbone brags about its “military-grade NoiseAssassin” technology, which zeroes in on your voice and eliminates all other ambient noise to ensure crisp and clear sound even if you’re in a busy street. NoiseAssassin, as the manufacturer says, was originally developed for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in its goal to have reliable communications even in battlefield situations.

With models such as “Goldy Lips”, “Blah Blah Black”, and “Silver Tongue”, the new Jawbone is incredibly fashionable. Measuring only 508mm long by 1.27mm wide by 1.27mm thick and weighing a measly 10 grams, grabbing the new Jawbone will be no problem as you strut down the street.

We have already mentioned that the major complaint against the original Jawbone headset was due to the size. With the promise of the new Jawbone being 50% smaller, that was all it took to plunk down another $129, even though the original was still working great. As soon as Aliph released their latest Jawbone headset, which we have seen referred to as the “new Jawbone” and also the “Jawbone 2” it became a must have item. Aside from the promised better sound quality thanks to the “military-grade NoiseAssassin technology” the promise of a 50% smaller headset was hard to pass up. Having used the original Jawbone since it was released, this is a welcome addition. The smaller size alone makes this money well spent, because ultimately my only real complaint about the original was the large size. The new Jawbone comes complete with a charger, three sizes of the ear piece and four ear hooks, two of which are leather covered.

Aside from the non-standard charging cable, I think Aliph has done some great work with this latest headset. The charger will work in a standard wall outlet or over a USB connection, which is nice, however the headset end is special for this headset. It does work well, however a miniUSB connection on the headset side would have been a little nicer and a lot more convenient. This way it could mean one less cable to carry, and would also make for an easier replacement should it get lost or damaged.

We saw the follow up to the Jawbone hit the FCC a few weeks back and it looks like Aliph has just made it official. The new Jawbone is being touted as “the best just got better” and assuming the same, or better sound quality that could be a very accurate statement. It looks like the new Jawbone has been put on a diet, as the new version is 50% smaller than the original and weighs in at just 10 grams. In addition the headset has “military-grade NoiseAssassin technology” which should only improve on the overall voice quality as compared to the original. The headset offers 4 hours of talk time, 8 days on standby and will achieve an 80% charge in 35 minutes with a full charge in just about an hour.

The next generation of the Jawbone has made its appearance, and thanks to the FCC we have a little look as to what’s in store with the future of the Jawbone. Overall it seems that the Jawbone will have some welcome improvements. Judging from the images, it looks like the Jawbone has gone on a diet, sporting a slightly less bulky appearance and according the the “preliminary” manual the Jawbone will retain the patented “Noise Shield” and “Voice Activity Sensor” that make for that great sound, or lack of when it comes to background noise. Another item of interest is what appears to be smaller pins on the charging cable, otherwise the headset still comes with an earloop and various sets of earbuds to allow for a slightly more custom fit. Bluetooth headsets are never really cool looking, well they may look cool, but users generally look a little dorky wearing them. Amongst the best looking, not to mention the best sounding has been the Jawbone from Aliph, and they have now gotten a little better looking. A set of three new models courtesy of FuseProject, the Jawbone will now be available in a white “Trash Talk,“ a black “Dirty Talk.“ and a gold “Sweet Talk.“ All three models will be available in just a “very limited quantity,“ so if you feel you must get one of these, you better act quickly. Of course limited edition Jawbone or not, you will still look like a dork when wearing these around in public.
