by Doug Berger on Feb 14, 2007 at 02:44 AM

Motorola SLVR L9Motorola is making its presence felt at this year’s 3GSM.  Among the devices they’ve introduced this week is the SLVR L9.  The L9, which follows the SLVR L7 in the company’s lineup, is a GSM phone with GPRS/EDGE class 10 data, and now has even more of a focus on entertainment.

The new L9 has a built-in FM radio with RDS - so you can see the title and artist of the song you’re listening to.  The L9 shows support for MP3, AAC, AAC+, AAC+ enhanced, AMR, and WAV.  It also packs A2DP stereo Bluetooth, a 2 megapixel camera with MPEG-4 video recording, microSD and MegaSIM slots, 400 minutes of talk-time, and 350 hours of standby.  The SLVR L9 should be available sometime in the second quarter of this year.

Linux based Motorola A910

by Adam Berger on Dec 28, 2006 at 03:48 AM

Linux Motorola A910The FCC just approved Motorola’s new Linux-based A910 cellphone for GSM networks (Cingular, T-Mobile, etc). The A910 comes with GPRS and UMA for connecting over WLAN networks, a Linux-Java based platform, 1.3-megapixel camera with external display, video capability, streaming video, MP3 player, a microSD expansion slot, Bluetooth, and more.

So what does Linux on your handset do for you? Well first off, you get to bypass Motorola’s rather bulky, boring, GUI interface. Paired with Java, Linux will also allow developers total flexibility to create customized, kick-ass programs for the handset—yes not any regular software, kick-ass software.

How much and when? Pricing should be middle of the road ($100 after rebates) and it is expected around Q2 of 2007, which is about time since it was originally expected in Q1 2006.

Wednesday night I was MIA here at Gadgetell but in full effect (whatever that means) at the Trace launch event in downtown, NYC. Leaded shot of the new 8100 3G BlackBerry

by Adam Berger on Aug 9, 2006 at 05:32 PM

BlackBerry 8100 RIMOn the right is a leaked shot from “Random Asian Dude!” that were sent to David over at Mobility Today, thanks dude!

The black lacquer model we see is the forthcoming RIM BlackBerry 8100. It appears to have a media/audio player, video player, view photos, supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE and also be on Cingular’s network (though we have heard that it will launch on T-Mobile). The model will be a 3G device mean that you will have faster download and upload speeds, allowing media purchases with downloads as well as faster e-mail syncing. There is no word yet on release date, price, or additional features such as a camera.

This will really bring BlackBerry back in the game for the younger users who are looking for all-in-one communications and entertainment.
