Motion Lingo’s Adeo fitness trainer is a great Nike+ alternative
Ever dreamed of having your own personal trainer or running coach that would work around your schedule, not cost a fortune and help you reach your goals? Well the concept behind the new Adeo Fitness Companion by Motion Lingo might just bring those dreams into reality. Motion Lingo is a new and exciting company that specializes in GPS-enabled fitness products. The company’s flagship product is the ADEO (a-dee-oh), a device that’s about the size of the iPod mini and weighs only 2 ounces.
It automatically fades the music from your MP3 player to give you audible and programmed updates and then turns your music back up. These updates keep you motivated and informed on your progress; reporting on your pace, elevation, distance run, calories burned, lap time and total elapsed time. The Adeo also keeps you updated on the battery status, time of day and your peak pace during the workout.
What’s the difference between the Adeo and the Nike+iPod Sporkit? The Sporkit uses an inaccurate accelerometer and is only meant to work with the iPod nano and Nike + shoes. Conversely, the Adeo uses GPS satellites for what has been reported to be far more accurate results and universal compatibility with any mp3 player on the market.

Apple and Google to add Geotagging to iPhoto
Back in late August, Google CEO Eric Schmidt was elected to Apple’s board of directors. And until now, we haven’t seen much of the two companies collaborating. Enter geotagging for iPhoto. If you’re not familiar with geotagging, sites like Flickr and a whole slew of Google Maps API-based sites use it to mark on a map where something happened. In the case of iPhoto, it would mark on a map where each picture or album was taken. Now this has yet to be announced by Apple or Google, but Mactelchat forum user javester has been poking around in the code and noticed something fishy. Javester stated one of his/her findings as follows: :"In the Localizable.strings file inside the iPhoto app bundle, we find several intriguing keys, including one called GPSMapURL which is preset to “http://maps.google.com/maps?q=%f+%f"!" In real people terms, this means iPhoto has code that links to Google Maps.
Javester also found a hidden “Show” button that would link to a Google Map of the location. At the time of writing their first post, they couldn’t get the “Show” button to work. But after some more hacking away, they came up with the video after the break.

New Google Maps feature saves your addresses
A popular request - the ability to store personal addresses on Google Maps, has just been honored. To use the feature simply go into Google Map’s “Saved Locations” folder and edit away e.g. change the name of 1530 West 10 street to “home” and 95 Fifth Ave to “work”. The best part? Auto-completion!
Want to find a pizza shop near work? No problem, type: pizza near work and Google will automatically interpret it as 95 Fifth Ave. Pretty neat, no?
