Google’s Android caught in the wild?
My short attention span is forcing me to think Google’s Android isn’t going to arrive, ever. Despite rumors that the cell phone OS was going to be delayed, then HTC’s insistence to the contrary, I just don’t know what to think. Then this video surfaces, in all its highly suspect qualities.
Could even the very best version of Android and supreme developer support bring us the equal of the iPhone and the App Store? Even with the crashes (thanks a lot Super Monkey Ball), can Android do better?
This video does look to hold some promise. What is your take, does Android have the stuff?

Android battles Yahoo! at AT&T
Google’s Android mobile phone OS is being talked about a lot this week. Yesterday, AT&T wireless Chief, Ralph de la Vega, says that after careful review, Android is “something we are going to want in our portfolio”. Hot diggity.
Joining the ranks of T-Mobile and Sprint, AT&T would be the biggest player so far to make a commitment to the open OS. Perhaps an in house battle is waging for AT&T, pitting Yahoo!, the companies official partner for mobile web search vs Google. Certainly this feud will grow as the mobile advertising space continues its unfettered growth.
Android rears its awesome head
Yes, Google’s Android phones are now attacking in Barcelona. The first out of the chute is this one from Texas Instruments for an unnamed vendor. Word is this thing is blazing fast to respond, has nice integration with Gmail, Google Maps, Google searches. To be sure, this is an early build lacking the update to the SDK that Google is adding, but it holds much hope for the future.
Google busy making Android better
Google is making apparently some big changes to it’s SDK in response to developers reactions and comments to the first version. Back to code they go making fixes and feature enhancements so when it finally gets to us, we are going to love it. At least, that is what Google hopes. In light of the undertaking, they are pushing back the date on their developer challenge so folks are not staying up all night to meet the tight deadline.
Getting ready for Andrioid: demonstration by a la Mobile
A company I’ve not heard of sent in a press release about their demonstration of Andriod on a HTC Qtek 9090. WTF is a Qtek 9090? Well, it looks like a la Mobile jumped in the wayback machine to dig up this Linux OS unit. Thankfully, this story is not about the phone; just like the G-Phone wasn’t about the phone.
A la Mobile whipped up a GUI complete with your standard fare: “browser, phone dialer, audio player, maps, camera, games, calendar, contacts manager, calculator, tasks manager and notes.” This doesn’t seem to revolutionary right? But someone had to get out there and do it.
Google Android SDK comes next Monday
After months of Gphone anxiety, Google announces their Gphone is really a bunch of phones running a common software that is open sourced and shared by big names in the industry like Motorola, HTC, Samsung and many others.
Android™ will deliver a complete set of software for mobile devices: an operating system, middleware and key mobile applications. On November 12, we will release an early look at the Android Software Development Kit (SDK) to allow developers to build rich mobile applications.
