GlobalSat delivers GTV-580, boasts digital TV receiver

GlobalSat recently came out with a new type of GPS called the GTV-580. The “TV” in GTV probably stands for the TV receiver in which is the main unique feature that makes it stand out. The built-in TV receiver comes with EPG functions, support of MTS and subtitles, auto scan, manual scan and AV-OUT.
Otherwise the GTV-580 is pretty much your average GPS, but the screen it comes with is an above average one. It it 5-inches with a 480 x 272 WQVGA resolution. The main advantage in having a big screen like this is so it will be easy to watch TV on it and view the map, so you won’t have to strain your eyes trying to read the map or watch the video. Additionally, it comes with SD memory expansion, WMA and JPG format support, a 4 hour battery life and Bluetooth capabilities for hands free calling. Within the Bluetooth comes auto-reply mode and phonebook download.
Unfortunately, no word on pricing or availability at this time.
