Google deploys version 3 of Toolbar for Firefox
Google has just released Version 3 of their Firefox Toolbar. This version includes everything the IE toolbar provides with extra functionality of bookmark updates and Google document/spreadsheet integration, sharing web pages and automatic Google account sign-ins. However, new Firefox 2 users may use it at their peril as there have been multiple reports and instances of it being buggy and repeatedly crashing the new browser.

Without further ado, Mozilla Firefox 2.0
Microsoft pushes out Internet Explorer 7, Sony drops the final deets on the PS3, Apple celebrates the iPods 5th birthday, but the most exciting event is the next step for Mozilla’s Firefox. The changes are not major nor drastic, a couple of fixes here and changes there but 2.0 proves that the renegade web browser, Mozilla Firefox, has what it takes to make it to 2.0 and fight IE!
Go and download it for yourself. You’ll never be so happy to replace IE ever again.

Firefox 2.0 RC1 released
Click image for a larger picture
About 8 days ago Mozilla took one step ahead with the release of Firefox 2.0 Beta 2. The developers site now says that they just released RC 1 (release candidate), essentially the first stable release of the product. It is still not intended for regular users to play around with as extensions and other bugs still exist, but I took a step on the wild side download Beta 2 which automatically upgraded to Version 2.0 a few days ago. Thus far I am very happy. The software is smaller, seems more stable, has some great new features including the in line spell check (though it is not great it is helpful).

Firefox 2 Beta 1 next week
Firefox version 2.0 Beta 1 (also know as Bon Echo) will be released sometime this upcoming week. Current issues to be completed among other things are a change in branding from “Bon Echo” to Firefox 2, test new features, and listing bugs. Don’t expect this to be the prettiest Firefox version you have seen (beta 2s tend to be much more reliable), but if you are like me the availability of a new version really gets you excited, no matter how buggy it may be.
We’ll update you when it is released.
Update: Firefox 2.0 beta 1 has been release, read more here.
