Gotuit and Pixsy team up to offer a higher level of video searching
Do you remember a couple of years ago when Gotuit came out with “SceneMaker?” It was all new and amazing back then. It let people take videos from platforms like YouTube, and then cut scenes from it, and tag them with metadata and stick it on a Gotuit (and eventually any other) page. Although people could edit videos before this, it was never with quite the same precision and tagging ability that SceneMaker offered.
Now Gotuit is teaming up with Pixsy to bring you the ability to search through videos by scenes. How? Keep reading after the break.
Uh-Oh Google Gadget
It’s a veritable heyday for hackers. A playground for those bent on more nefarious purposes. Those nifty little Google gadgets available for users to download and add to their websites are a big part of the Web 2.0 trend, and a big back door that allows hackers to access information on your system. Uh-oh Google gadgets.
It isn’t only Google that is at risk; and it isn’t a matter of them simply being lax with security measures. Any time you have sharing going on in that type of capacity, you are obviously opening up your system to the chance that someone can get in. It’s just that because people find these little gadgets like photo feeds or calendars on a site that is so well known (and usually trusted) like Google; it is pretty much automatically assumed by average Joe user that it must be “safe”. Not necessarily true.
RSS Awareness Day May 1, 2008: Get on the RSS train
If you’re reading this blog, then it’s likely you already are a regular rider of the RSS train. But RSS isn’t something everyone in the general public knows about, as only an estimated 5-percent of web users subscribe to websites using RSS. Hence the idea for RSS Awareness Day, which takes place on May 1, 2008 (which happens to be nine days before the first National Train Day, to continue with the train theme). In observance of this day, you can blog about RSS to help get the word out about this technology.
According to Wikipedia; RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and along with the orange RSS icon became widespread in 2005/2006. RSS is defined as “a family of Web feed formats used to publish frequently updated content such as blog entries, news headlines, and podcasts.” Which when used with either programs such as NewsFire or NetNewsWire or web-based readers such as Google Reader or Bloglines subscribers can have all the content from their favorite blogs available in one location, making it easy to get all the news.
