Pantech Duo 2 makes its FCC appearance

The Pantech Duo 2 has recently made its FCC appearance and despite not having an official announcement we can tell you that (when released) it is expected to be available with AT&T. The Pantech Duo 2, which is also known as the C820, will be the successor to—you guessed it, the Pantech Duo. The C820 is a dual slider handset with a numeric keypad as well as a full QWERTY keyboard. The handset will feature dual-band 850/1900 GSM/EDGE/WCDMA radios, a 2-megapixel camera with video recording, Bluetooth and a microSD card slot for additional storage. It will also be running Windows Mobile 6.1. Currently there is no info on when this phone will ship, nor is there any price data. When we find out, we’ll let you know.

Porsche Design P’9522 cruises by with an FCC appearance

Yet another handset that is showing its face via an FCC listing, this time it is the candybar styled P’9522 from Porsche Design. Sadly, the P’9522 is not offering as clean of a design as one would hope. Sure, it is a candybar handset, and one that (for the most part) seems to have a clean looking design. However in the case of the P’9522, it has a big fingerprint scanner front and center which takes away some of the good looks.
BlackBerry Storm hits the FCC

We still have not seen RIM announce an official release date for the BlackBerry Storm, but hopefully the recent trip through the FCC should help to move that along. The latest information still has it coming sometime in November. Not many details were given away in the FCC listing, in fact the details were lighter than normal, almost making it hard to tell the listing was for the Storm. Of course anyone looking for information should not have to look all that hard as we have already seen more than our fair share of Storm related information including everything from leaked images, to complete manuals, to online emulators.

Sony Ericsson’s 8-megapixel C905 makes an FCC appearance

The recently announced Sony Ericsson C905 has made the required FCC appearance. We have already seen the official announcement, so unfortunately we are not able to offer anything new in terms of specs, but the good news is that it seems to be on the way to an actual release.
As of now, we are expecting the C905 to be available sometime during Q4. An exact date has not yet been announced. To recap, the C905 is going to feature a massive 8-megapixel camera, which comes along with a 2.4-inch QVGA display, Wi-Fi, GPS, an accelerometer and much more.
In the meantime, we can do nothing more than sit back, maybe stare at the above FCC image just a little bit, and dream about the nice pictures that we will be able to take.

Comcast hints that new data cap may not be set in stone

Gigaom is reporting that the new 250GB cap Comcast announced recently may not be set in stone. In a chat with the site, Comcast spokeperson Charlie Douglas said the cap, which is roughly 100 times more than the average Comcast customer uses in a month, will likely rise as average consumption rises.
Helio Ocean 2, first clear images released

At this point, it is not a secret that the Ocean 2 will be coming. We have already seen the FCC approval come way back in March, and even saw a leaked and blurry shot show up a few months later in June. But sadly, up till now, we have not seen any real quality images of the upcoming device. Now, courtesy of the FCC we have a few shots and not only do they show off a good amount of detail they are also nice and clear.
The Ocean 2 is not expected to hit the market until sometime in January of 2009. But the good news is that aside from these nice images, we also have a few new details. Obviously, from the pics you can see that the Ocean 2 will retain the same dual slider design as the original Ocean which gives you a numeric keypad along with a full QWERTY keyboard so you can show off your texting skills. Otherwise, it is expected to feature a QVGA display, 2-megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, EVDO 3G, a microSD card slot, full HTML browser and a touch sensitive navigation pad.
BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 makes the grand FCC appearance

Typically an FCC posting means something a little more exciting, generally it comes as a product leak of some sort and it means that we are getting some good information. Well, not to disappoint you, but this latest FCC appearance is far from exciting. It comes in the form of the BlackBerry Peal Flip 8220, and well as it has already been officially announced, the listing does not offer anything new. Nonetheless we thought it would be nice to share the one diagram that made its way into the description.

FCC leaks Nokia 2680 with AT&T branding

You have to love the stream of information coming from the FCC, at times they remind me of that friend who knows a little to much, but does not know when to keep their mouth closed. Well the latest bit of information to come is in the form of the Nokia 2680 slide that was recently pictured with a nice clear AT&T logo.
Overall the Nokia 2680 is not much to get excited about, its a pretty low-end slider-style handset that features a camera, music player and FM radio. However what is interesting about this comes from the original Nokia announcement for the 2680 which announced this as a handset for emerging markets, well it looks like AT&T now has an emerging market. I wonder how they would feel after hearing that.
FCC leaks the Motorola Jay-Z branded headphones

Here we have the latest item to make its debut via the FCC, a set of Jay-Z branded Motorola headphones. And they have come in a typical FCC fashion, meaning the leak offers a
decent picture but comes with few details to go along with it.
What we can tell you so far is that these headphones are Motorola made, and are in partnership with Jay-Z. We also know that they are A2DP stereo Bluetooth headphones and feature an external mic.
Of course we are still not sure how much they will retail for, nor do we have any idea of an expected release date. The one bit of good news is that we can be pretty certain that Motorola will not be quite when they officially announce these.

Google wants to use the white space

Google seems to be advocating a lot of things recently, with the latest being their “Free The Airwaves” campaign. Free The Airwaves is about asking the FCC to free allow anyone to use unused airwaves that currently carry analog TV signals. About 3/4 of these waves are currently unused, and Google wants to leverage these waves for the good of everyone. Its idea is to use it for cheap and easy wireless internet access, of course.
FCC engineers will be testing the airwaves that could carry Wi-Fi, with the ban on using the “white space” airwaves possibly coming by the end of the year. This would be great news for just about everyone. There are still places in the United States that don’t have access to broadband (shocking to realize sometimes, I know), and these waves should already be there anyway. It should just be a matter of buying a device that can connect to the airwaves.
