Verizon intro’s the Samsung Glyde
This release has been in the works for a long time, and it looks like Verizon has finally made it official, with the Glyde hitting the available column later in the week. The Samsung Glyde is the Verizon Wireless branded version of the F700 and will feature a 2.78-inch display, a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 2-megapixel webcam with flash and autofocus, Bluetooth, GPS and a microSD card slot for additional storage. The Glyde is expected to retail for $249.99, which will come after a $50 rebate and along with a two-year agreement.

Verizon’s Samsung U940 now “Glyde”
It’s been known for a while that the Samsung F700 is going to be heading to Verizon. We’ve gone through the standard process; heard rumors of it coming, seen it confirmed, and also saw the FCC put it’s big ol’ approval stamp on it. Since Verizon has been on a roll with their naming scheme (Voyager, Venus, Chocolate, Gleam), it’s only appropriate that this phone has one. The first codename was the “Q-Ball.” The new, and more appropriate name, is now the “Glyde.” This comes from the phone having a slide-out QWERTY keyboard like bigger PDA/Smartphones, so it’s only appropriate that it gains that name.
No new date has been released, but it is apparently still set for release in Q1 of 2008. Could it come a little sooner? You only have one more month, Verizon.

Vodafone Spain getting the F700 in white
Vodafone Spain is getting ready to launch the Samsung F700 in white, which at least from the available pictures is a nice style improvement over the current black version.
The new white model, the F700v will retain the same specs as the previous black version. Hopefully Verizon will see this shiny new color and release a similar offering with their branded U940.
Video hands on with the new Samsung F700
The guys over at PhoneArena had a hands-on with Samsung’s sexy new F700 GSM smartphone. The device sports a 2.78 inch touchscreen display, 5.0 megapixel camera, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, microSD slot, EDGE, and best of all, the next-gen HSDPA for super-fast browsing. It’s really good to see companies being innovative with interfaces too. Wouldn’t you say?

Samsung takes a stab at the iPhone with new F700
In an effort to keep up with the touchscreen buzz generated by Apple’s iPhone, Samsung as created the F700. The F700 is part of Samsung’s new Ultrasmart line of phones and sports 7.2 Mbps HSDPA, a 5 megapixel shooter, your typical media functionality, Bluetooth, 2.78 inch touchscreen display, and a slick looking interface designed by Adobe.
The phone also goes beyond the iPhone’s functionality by throwing in a full-QWERTY keyboard that slides out from underneath. At first glance, it looks like a suped up version of the HTC Apache or another HTC model, right?
