Griffin’s take on the iPod home media center trend

by Adam Berger on Aug 4, 2006 at 05:29 PM

Griffin ipod Tune Center
It started with cases, then moved onto FM transmitters, voice recorders, laser beams, stands, chargers, and now media center docks. Of course I am talking about the iPod accessory fads that have hit the tech accessory market by storm. Today’s hottest products allow you to dock your pod with your TV and utilize an onscreen interface to play your tunes via your stereo. Griffin has gone one step further by including internet radio via a network connection, an ethernet plug for the TuneCenter and Wi-Fi on the forthcoming TuneCenter Pro, for internet radio just like the stations on iTunes.

Griffin ipod Tune CenterOn screen, connected via RCA cables, you view the standard iPod interface to navigate your music, playlists, set suffle/repeat, change EQ settings, and more. Due to an Apple patent to view video you must select the file from the iPod itself but you can then watch it on your big screen.

Griffin will be selling this unit around $149.99 for the iPod with video and then following up this fall with an iPod nano version model, the TuneCenter II as well as the Wi-Fi TuneCenter Pro.
