Rumor: AT&T to launch Samsung Omnia i900

by Natesh Sood on Jun 23, 2008 at 06:46 PM

Samsung i900

A few weeks ago, there had been much more information released on the highly anticipated Samsung i900. However, at that time, it still wasn’t known which carrier would be selling this phone, but now, it is rumored that AT&T will be the carrier.

The Samsung i900 is set to come with AT&T Music, AT&T Video, AT&T Navigator, AT&T Mobile TV support. The other specs are going to be pretty much the same as they were when the information was first released a few weeks ago, but here is a mini recap; Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, 5-megapixel camera, quad-band EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, a 3.2-inch WQVGA touchscreen display with a 240 x 400 resolution, Bluetooth and either 8GB or 16GB of storage. It is expected to be available during Q3 of 2008.

Of course, as of now, there has not been any official announcement, stay tuned for more information as it becomes available!

Leaked specs; The Palm Treo 850

by Robert Nelson on May 25, 2008 at 11:46 AM

We have recently seen the images and those gave a nice look at what appears to be a cross between a slightly more grown up Treo and a Centro. Those images did also give us a nice side shot that showed what appeared to be an on/off switch for the Wi-Fi and these recently leaked specs are indeed highlighting Wi-Fi as a feature, something that has been long lacking with the Treo lineup. Of course as with any leaked specs, these are highly unconfirmed and come courtesy of a “good friend.”

With that said, the details are set to include the previously mentioned Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g along with GSM, EDGE and UMTS HSDPA 3.6 support, a 2-megapixel camera, assisted-GPS, a microSD card slot which sadly is located under the 1500 mAh battery, a micro-USB connector for both power and sync, Bluetooth 2.0 EDR + A2DP, 256MB NAND-Flash with about 175MB available for the user, 32MB SDRAM, a 320 x 320 touchscreen display and running Windows Mobile Professional 6.1.

The new Treo, which is the 850 is also codenamed the Skywriter. With a solid set of specs, this should make anyone looking for a new Treo happy, but aside from the addition of Wi-Fi it just may not be enough to convince current Treo users they need to upgrade. Still waiting on any information regarding pricing and availability.

Nokia Siemens to upgrade EDGE data speed

by Arnold Zafra on Mar 28, 2008 at 09:18 AM

Nokia Siemens Network

For iPhone and other mobile phone users who rely on EDGE technology to get connected to the web using their mobile phones, the start of Nokia Siemens EDGE Evolution program comes as a welcomed development. Nokia Siemens has announced that as an initial salvo to the EDGE Evolution program, data speeds for GSM/EDGE capable networks will increase to 524kbps. The current EDGE standard for data speed is set at around 262kbps.

Nokia Siemens is set to implement what it calls the Dual Carrier EDGE solution via software upgrade by the third quarter of 2008. So you, iPhone fanatics will have to wait a couple of months more before you get to enjoy the same data speed that 3G-enabled mobile phone users are enjoying right now.

BMW looking to incorporate full Internet into their cars

by Natesh Sood on Feb 23, 2008 at 09:43 PM

Google in BMW

BMW is ready to claim that they are the first car manufacturer to offer fully, unrestricted, built-in access to the Internet. BMW is calling this new technology “ConnectedDrive”, which could connect you to the EDGE Internet. EDGE is used by many, and most notably Apple’s iPhone. However, EDGE, as you may or may not know, is not necessarily the fastest means of accessing the Internet, as 3G would be a more appropriate way of connecting to the Internet.

AT&T QWERTY SMT5700 smartphone
What you see here is the first smartphone from Cingular the new AT&T. It is the SMT5700, a full QWERTY, Windows Mobile 5 smartphone. Rumored specs include a 2 megapixel camera, microSD card slot, Bluetooth and EDGE transfer speeds. While we said it would be Windows Mobile 5 by the time this sucker comes out it may just be Windows Mobile 6 Standard—but then again AT&T may have changed their name as well.

Motorola KRZR finally makes its way to Cingular

by Doug Berger on Feb 7, 2007 at 08:40 PM

Cingulars Blue Motorola KRZRThe CDMA version of Motorola’s KRZR K1m has been out for Sprint, Verizon Wireless, Alltel, and U.S. Cellular for quite a while now leaving you GSM subscribers in the dark.  Your wait is over, because Cingular (err AT&T Wireless) is now shipping the KRZR.  The phone comes in blue and sports a 2 megapixel camera, speakerphone, and a digital audio player.  Unlike its CDMA cousin, you shouldn’t expect a lightening fast data connection since it will max out at EDGE.  If you’re not planning on downloading obscene amounts of content on the slim-phone, then it shouldn’t be a problem.

Pick up Cingular’s MOTO KRZR K1 for just $249 with a 2 year contract, or $399 for just the phone.  Plus, right now they’re have a few discounts to tack on so it will come down to just $99 if you’re a new customer.
