The FTEC eBook G10 is a rebranded ECS G10IL with an awesome decal

by Arnold Zafra on Aug 25, 2008 at 07:01 AM

FTEC eBook G10

It wouldn’t be so hard to notice that the new FTEC eBook G10 is just a rebranded and redesigned ECS G10IL. The mere presence of “G10” in their name spills it all. Specs and features-wise, the FTEC eBook G10 does not have anything different from the ECS G10IL. But one thing is clear, this version of the ECS G10IL certainly looks cooler than its original version, especially with a fire emblem accentuating the keyboard and touchpad area.

ECS to release the 3G-enabled G10IL netbook in September

by Arnold Zafra on Jul 9, 2008 at 11:22 AM

ECS G10IL

The US netbook market has never been as active as it is today. While MSI and Asus are busy with their head on battle, some other companies are on the side waiting for the right moment to come into the fray. For ECS, September seems to be the right moment to release their own netbook, the ECS G10IL.

Having to follow some seriously tough competition, ECS had to make sure that their netbook would offer something new that others don’t offer. For the ECS G10IL it has to be the 3G network capability as it will have EDGE, HSUPA, and HSDPA mobile broadband support. It will also come with either an 8.9-inch or a 10-inch LCD display. In addition, this netbook will either have the 8GB SSD with Linpus Lite Linux OS or an 80GB hard drive running Windows XP.

ECS is planning to release a white version of the G10IL in September while the black model will come at a later time. The G10IL is expected to have a tentative price tag of $399 and is geared more for business use rather than for educational purposes.

ECS announces Atom-Based G101L Netbook

by Joe Roland on Mar 20, 2008 at 08:13 AM

ECS G101L NetBook

After the Asus Eee PC’s remarkable success, we have seen many others jumping on the mini-notebook bandwagon. The latest to take the plunge is Elitegroup Computer Systems, with their G101L “Netbook.“ Compared to the EeePC or the rumored Intel Netbook, the G101L does have some better specs like a built-in tri-band HSDPA/HSUPA modem, which is not available on any of the EeePC models, and also the power-efficient Intel Atom processor. It is a bit more sizable compared to other products available in the same category, measuring in at 10.19 x 7.08 x 1.12-inches, but this is attributed to its bigger screen, which offers a choice of 8.2 or 10.2-inches.

ECS G10IL; An ultra-portable to give the Eee a run for its money

by Robert Nelson on Mar 6, 2008 at 08:19 PM

The ultra-portable ECS G10IL

We are always seeing the “killer” device, in this case it is the next supposed Eee PC killer, but this ultra-portable may actually give the Eee a decent amount of competition.

Aside from a slightly poor name, the G10IL from ECS seems to be all business in the specs department. The G10IL features a built-in HSDPA 7.2 datacard, built-in webcam and has three USB ports, an Ethernet jack and strangely a built-in 56k modem.

Similar to other ultra-portables, the optical drive has been left out. The listed specs made no mention of Bluetooth, which would not be that much of a surprise if left out, however there was also not any mention of Wi-Fi, which considering it has built-in HSDPA would be very strange to leave out. Official confirmation with more “firm” details are still coming from ECS. The G10IL is currently still in production but is expected to retail for £250 or just under $500 US.
