Ready for the world’s first geotagging video camera?  It’s coming.

by Jodie Andrefski on Sep 30, 2008 at 11:16 AM

geotatecamera“Every breath you take… Every move you make… Every bond you break… Every step you take..  I’ll be watching you.” Is it the end of privacy as we know it?  People knowing where we are, and when we are there, seeing whatever it is we are doing.  Or, just a cool and fun new way to geotag?  Geotagging is nothing new and most of us are familiar with the term by now.  Take a photo, and “tag” your location to tell all your friends or family where you were at when you shot it.  But now, tagged single shots are going to seem like dinosaurs.

Flip Video sells one million Flip Ultra’s

by Robert Nelson on Aug 1, 2008 at 09:19 PM

According to research company NPD, Flip Video has broken the one million mark with their Flip Video Ultra camcorder. In an ever increasing market, Flip Video is now seeing competition from Kodak and DXG in the easy to use and easy to upload market.

“Flip’s simplicity makes it easy for anyone to capture and share their stories and to participate in the explosion of video-sharing on the web, and that has been a winning approach with consumers,” said Jonathan Kaplan, Chairperson and CEO of Pure Digital Technologies.

Of course, Flip was the first to make a splash in this market, so its safe to think they have gotten a nice head start in terms on sales. It should be interesting to see just how well they do with the new Flip Mino model, especially considering some of the competition is offering up to 720p quality.

DXG-V569v camcorder

If you are in the hunt for a camcorder that is not so heavy on the pocket but still wallops some decent features, then the DXG-569v entry level camcorder which was recently released might be just what you are looking for. Retailing for only $170, this cheap camcorder offers 720p (1280x720) video quality aside from other powerful features that you’d think would not come in such an inexpensive camcorder.

These features include full speed video recording, direct video editing using various software and direct upload to YouTube without altering its native format. In addition to being a nifty camcorder, the DXG-569v also doubles up as a decent photo snapper able to capture still images at a 5-megapixel resolution. It can even record voice memos, which allows users to annotate their photos. The camcorder comes packed with 32MB of internal memory with support for expansion via an SDHC memory card slot that can accommodate up to 8GB of additional storage.
