Windows XP based OLPC readying for its September launch

Windows XP coming to the OLPC XO Laptop certainly comes as little surprise, its been hinted at, and even shown off in the past, but what does come as news is that it should be available by this September.
Microsoft has recently released a version of Windows XP to manufacturing and according to James Utzschneider, the General Manager of Marketing and Communications, Unlimited Potential Group “it is on track for availability in these types of national educational PC deals in September.“
As I am sure you can imagine, the version of Windows XP that will be running is going to be highly tweaked and customized, but sadly it will not be made available for current XO owners.
So it looks like those who purchased through last years “Give 1 Get 1” program will have to make yet another purchase if its Windows XP they want to run, that is until it somehow gets leaked. While I certainly cannot endorse that, its hard to imagine it will not happen.

OLPC unveils Windows XP based XO laptop

Microsoft and OLPC have issued the official word that the XO laptop will begin to become available with Windows XP, while we have heard the rumors, its now official. Currently the XO laptops running Windows XP are scheduled to begin their trial stage in June, however they are anticipated to be released as early as September.
Windows XP will not be replacing the original Sugar Linux, they will both be available, and there is even some talk of a model that is dual booting with both Sugar Linux and Windows XP.
Similar to the original release of the XO, these new XP-based models will be headed to developing nations and not the retail market. Keep reading to check out a nice vide demonstration…
HTC Touch Slide with US 3G hits the FCC

Another phone coming with details courtesy of the FCC. This time is comes with a little more detail and some good news for HTC fans here in the US. According to the FCC website the handset is called the HTC NEON300, but it appears to be the HTC Touch Dual with a slide out (from the bottom) 20-key QWERTY keyboard.
This handset has also come with not only a few good images, but also some details as well. The HTC NEON300 will feature 2.6-inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth 2.0, a microSD card slot with 256MB ROM and 128MB RAM. The NEON300 is powered by a 400Mhz processor running Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. The really good news is that the NEON300 will offer support for US 3G coverage on the 850/1900Mhz bands.
Jabra M5390 dual BT headset has “leave me alone” written all over it
Noise-canceling headphones be gone! Who needs inferior products such as those when you can comfortably sit back with two calls simultaneously with the Jabra M5390 dual Bluetooth headset? Talk about trying to tell everyone around you that you are busy, and can’t be disturbed no matter what. This mind-boggling device, in my honest opinion, is so dumb that it’s brilliant!
With the Jabra M5390 dual Bluetooth headset, you can take calls from two different devices, like say a GSM handset and a Skype phone, at the very same time. It offers DSP noise canceling technology itself, although I’m not sure how well that would really work when you’re trying to listen to two different sounds at a time.
Other features include USB 2.0 connectivity via a Bluetooth dongle, and a range of 70 meters. That way, even if you accidentally cut off your ear and dropped it down the elevator, you’d still be able to hear your calls. Or not. And it stays on standby for nearly 60 hours, with talk time billed at 6 hours, give or take. But don’t rush out with your credit card yet, cause there still ain’t no pricing details on this baby. What? Of course it’s for sale, cheapskate.
