iPod meet BluPod, your new cellphone connecting dongle

by Doug Berger on Sep 9, 2006 at 01:02 AM

BluPod

At iFA 2006 in Berlin this past week, Zenocom introduced their new product called BluPod.  The BluPod is an iPod dongle that connects wirelessly via Bluetooth to your cellphone - and displays call information on your iPod’s screen.  The device can be used as a remote control for your iPod and can even pick up FM radio signals.  So how do you know if you get a call?  The BluPod actually controls your iPod’s volume, turning it down when a call is received.  Logically, I think I would prefer it forcing my iPod to pause so I don’t miss anything on my favorite podcasts.  Two last points: 1) Doesn’t it look strikingly similar to Apple’s very own Radio Remote?  2) When Apple finds out about this company, their lawyers are going to sick ‘em with a name like that.

The ExPlay matchbox-sized projector for your cellphone

by Doug Berger on Jun 29, 2006 at 11:01 PM

ExPlay cellphone projector

Back at Bill Gate’s CES keynote, he was making use of prototype mobile device projectors.  These projectors display exactly what is on your cellphone or PDA screen so you can beam it onto any wall or even floor.  Explay is responsible for the latest projecting cellphone dongle.  Their new device, which is still in testing, is a matchbox sized projector that hooks up to your cellphone.  The company has plans to incorporate the technology into other devices.  No word yet or pricing or availability.
