HTC Touch Diamond now available online

by Robert Nelson on May 29, 2008 at 02:37 PM

HTC fans can rejoice as the Touch Diamond has begun to show up a little earlier than expected at a handful of online retailers. Originally scheduled for an “early-June” release date, it seems these lucky few retailers were fortunate enough to get an early shipment, and if you are willing to shell out the rather high price tag one can be yours. Currently being listed on three websites, which include DechoWireless, PopularElectronics and Welectronics. The Touch Diamond is retailing as low as $780 and topping out at $900, this pricing is of course for an unlocked version. If like us, you have never shopped any of these retailers, its pretty safe to think that once we see the official release date come that we will also see a wider selection of sites to shop from.

HTC Touch Diamond, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 compared in images

by Robert Nelson on May 18, 2008 at 10:22 AM

HTC Touch Diamond and Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1

Its hard to deny that the upcoming Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 and the HTC Touch Diamond both look really nice, but are still feature packed phones. A few images have recently surfaced showing both handsets side by side, while the images are not perfect, they still give a nice perspective. Given the option to use either phone it would be a hard decision, without handling either handset yet, I would lean towards the Touch Diamond. Keep reading for a few more pics…

HTC plans to sell 2 million Diamonds this year

by Robert Nelson on May 17, 2008 at 02:04 PM

HTC Touch Diamond

Well, HTC has already sold two million Touch handsets and it seems they believe they can do just the same with the newly announced Touch Diamond. Except with the Diamond they expect to hit that two million mark within the year and with the handset being released first in June that gives them just about six months to achieve their goal. Sounds a little lofty, but DigiTimes is reporting that Taiwanese mobile carrier CHT has already ordered about 20,000 to 30,000 units, that number combined with the other large carriers across the world it almost seems doable.

HTC Touch Diamond FCC Image

The recently announced Touch Diamond from HTC has made its FCC appearance. Which for those waiting to see that US release this should be very good news. While there is not any additional release info along with the FCC news, this does fit in well with the North American release timeframe, which was mentioned to be during the second half of 2008.

HTC intro's the Touch Diamond

While we can all read the specs and look at the images and dream about how much we would like to get our hands on the Touch Diamond, but with the phone not yet available, and only having been announced in London, hands on time is at a minimum. It seems that HTC has taken that into consideration and provided quite a bit of material to check it out in action, courtesy of their YouTube channel.

HTC intro’s their new flagship, the Touch Diamond

by Robert Nelson on May 6, 2008 at 08:05 AM

HTC Touch Diamond

As we expected, Tuesday has come and so has the announcement from HTC. They have officially unveiled the Touch Diamond, which is being referred to as their new flagship product, and judging from the specs it seems worthy of that title.

The Touch Diamond will feature a 2.8-inch touchscreen VGA quality display, 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera as well as a second VGA camera on the front, 256MB ROM/192MB RAM, 4GB of internal memory, integrated GPS, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and an accelerometer. The handset will be running Windows Mobile 6.1 and powered by a Qualcomm MSM7201A 528 MHz processor.

The Touch Diamond will also have TouchFLO 3D, which is aimed to make using your phone easier, by reacting “perfectly to your finger gestures when scrolling through contacts, browsing the web, and launching media.” With the combination of the HSDPA 7.2 connectivity, TouchFLO 3D and the built-in Opera browser with zoom-in capabilities HTC is claiming the Touch Diamond will offer an “online experience to rival a notebook computer.” In addition the Touch Diamond will also feature one-touch music playback, a built-in microphone, speaker, FM radio with RDS and both a pre-loaded YouTube and Google Maps application.

The Touch Diamond will first be available via Orange in Europe beginning in June, with Asia and the Middle East to follow later in this quarter and both Latin and North America to follow during the second half of 2008. At this time a price has not been announced.

Is a new announcement coming from HTC. Could we be seeing the HTC Touch Diamond released?

by Robert Nelson on May 4, 2008 at 04:49 PM

HTC Touch Diamond

With news of an announcement expected from HTC coming this week, these newly leaked details would lead one to believe that HTC has plans to formally announce the Touch Diamond.

The Touch Diamond, aside from having stunning good looks will offer a set of quality features. The Diamond is said to include a 2.8-inch VGA display, 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, eGPS, an FM tuner and have 4GB of internal memory with a microSD slot for additional storage.

The Diamond will also have quad-band HSDPA 7.2 support, be powered by a 528MHz CPU and running Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. In addition it is also rumored to have an accelerometer. Aside from the great specs, one item that was notably missing was any mention of a keyboard, hopefully a QWERTY keyboard will be included when the official announcement comes.
