BlackBerry Curve 8900 simulator now available

While it may not be as fun as getting your hands on the real thing, if anyone was itching to give the new BlackBerry Curve 8900 a test run, I have just found a nice simulator that will allow you to do just that. The simulator may just end up being a little more of a tease, but at least you will get to check out the latest 4.6.1 software. Of course, these online simulators usually just leave me wanting to make a purchase, but maybe that is the point. You can begin playing by clicking the “Read” link below and then selecting “BlackBerry Device Simulators v4.6.1′ for the 8900.“

BlackBerry 8900 Curve passes through the FCC, on the way to US availability

Yesterday, we learned that T-Mobile Germany customers would soon be getting the BlackBerry Curve 8900 for that nice low price of just 4.95 euros. Now in some good news for those based here in the US, that same Curve 8900 has just made its FCC appearance. While I would not expect such low pricing here, we can still hold out some hope.
As of now, this is nothing more than an FCC listing, which means RIM is simply playing the approval game. We are still awaiting information regarding a release date as well as carrier information. Although it is not expected to make a debut until sometime in Q1 of 2009, we have heard a rumor that it could be available with T-Mobile as early as Black Friday. Of course, that is not to leave those with AT&T handing, because it is expected to be available there as well. The Blackberry 8900 Curve will feature quad-band GSM/EDGE, a 3.2-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g , Bluetooth and GPS.
While initially I am a little disappointed by the lack of 3G support, perhaps it is important to point out that 3G may not be as necessary for everyone. I have plenty of friends that are using a non-3G BlackBerry and are very happy with the speed, mainly because they use it for calendar and email and rarely go online. Of course, I suppose if you are looking for that extra surfing speed, then the Bold would be the way to go, either way it looks like the Curve 8900 is going to make a welcomed addition.

BlackBerry Curve 8900 lands with T-Mobile Germany, available for 4.95 euros

RIM, along with T-Mobile Germany have just announced the availability of the BlackBerry Curve 8900. The new Curve 8900 features a 480 x 360 resolution display, a 3.2-megapixel camera with autofocus, Wi-Fi, integrated GPS and a microSD card slot with support up to 16GB.
As for pricing, this is where the news becomes even better, the 8900 can be purchased for just EUR 4.95 (around $6.30 US) with a two-year agreement and EUR 359.90 (around $459 US) contract free. As for a release, it is expected to begin shipping in mid-November.
The Curve 8900 offers a similar look as the BlackBerry Bold, but unlike the Bold it does not have any 3G support. As of now, nothing has been stated as to when or if the Curve 8900 will be heading to the US market. Of course, if it does get announced, the question becomes whether it will be available with T-Mobile or AT&T. Personally I am hoping for AT&T, but either way it should make a welcomed addition, of course I am not sure we will see that low pricing from either carrier here in the US.

Live video streaming on Blackberry’s through Qik
It was a feature that Blackberry users have been longing to have on their handsets. Finally the wait is over as video web streaming service Qik has just released the alpha version of its mobile video streaming client for Blackberry devices.
The new Qik mobile video streaming app will let you live stream your video from your mobile phone to Qik.com and major social networking sites including Facebook, MySpace as well your personal blogs. Download the application from http://qik.com/dl/165. After installing the app on your Blackberry device, you can start streaming live videos by simply pressing the Stream button that will appear when you fire up the application on your Blackberry device.
Next2Friends brings live video sharing to BlackBerry
Looking for an easy way to share video of what’s happening right now, but only have a BlackBerry with you? Next2Friends is trying to help out with that by releasing the “First Live Mobile Streaming Video for BlackBerry Devices.“ The apps will work on the BlackBerry Curve and Pearl models, and allow you to stream live video over the Internet. It also allows for the videos to easily be shared via social networking sites like Facebook, blogs, or any other sort of website.
The applications are also available for Symbian S60 and S40 devices, as well as Windows Mobile 6. This is the first time this suite of applications is available for BlackBerry, and Next2Friends is currently working on extending the applications to work on “a number of other popular operating systems,“ which would presumably (or at least hopefully) include Android and iPhone. Find out more about this app after the break.
AT&T to release the Wi-Fi enabled Blackberry 8320 Curve on September 23?

Of course at this point it is safe to say that most BlackBerry using AT&T customers are looking forward to the Bold coming available shortly, but just in case you would cannot wait the extra few weeks till the release, or have some strange attraction to the Curve, it looks like the Wi-Fi enabled 8320 will be released on September 23. Keep in mind that an official announcement has not come yet, and currently this information is coming courtesy of a “tip from an informant.“
Like I have already mentioned if I were a BlackBerry user looking to upgrade soon I would hold out a little longer for the Bold, sure it will be a little more expensive but it also includes 3G and GPS in addition to the Wi-Fi. However with that said the Curve 8320 should still be a nice offering.
Verizon goes pink with the BlackBerry Curve 8330, Pearl 8130

Verizon Wireless has just become the latest carrier to add some new pink BlackBerry models. The new additions to the Verizon lineup will be the Curve 8330 and the Pearl 8130. Features of both will be the same as their current silver counterparts and according to Verizon “the hip, pink colors give students added flair when they are at school or interviewing for an internship or job,“ of course we would most likely suggest leaving your BlackBerry at home or in the car while interviewing, regardless of the color.
Anyway the pink Curve 8330 and the pink Pearl 8130 are currently available for order online, and will be in retail stores beginning August 15. The Curve 8330 will retail for $99.99 and the Pearl 8130 will be $79.99. Pricing for both models comes after a $70 mail-in-rebate and along with the standard two-year agreement.

It looks like nothing but good news for BlackBerry loving T-Mobile users as there are a few new options coming available shortly.
First up we will see an expansion of the current Pearl 8120 lineup. Not the most exciting of additions, but lets get them out of the way before we move on to the real goodies. The Pearl 8120’s features will remain the same, but it will also be available in Tahitian Green, Indigo and Light Blue in addition to the currently available Ruby, Gold and Titanium.
Now that the 8120’s are out of the way, we can also tell you that the Kickstart (or possibly the Pearl 8220) will be available sometime in late September or early October and although the pricing has yet to be officially confirmed, the rumored $49.99 is still holding.
