The MOTO Q q9 and MOTO Q gsm continue to build upon the QWERTY phone that made thin in.

The MOTO Q q9 runs Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 and Motorola’s Good Mobile Messaging technology. The handset provides personal and corporate email, calendar access and content management wherever you are. HSDPA connectivity makes listening to music, watching videos or sharing pictures fast and “PlaysForSure” enables compatibility with music and video stores. A removable micro-SD card compliments the 256MB of on board memory. Motorola has also redesign the keyboard and five-way navigation key to enable fast, accurate text entry. MOTO Q q9 also boasts one a smart screen display, automatically adjusting to produce the best visual experience, indoor or out. Finally, the battery has been optimized for superior performance.

The MOTO Q gsm maintains the layout of the original CDMA Q (found on Verizon and Sprint) but includes quad-band GPRS and EDGE and upgrades to Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 OS.

MOTO Q q9 will be available in Q2 2007. MOTO Q gsm will be available in the second half of 2007.

Microsoft names Windows Mobile 6 versions Standard, Professional, Classic

by Doug Berger on Jan 30, 2007 at 03:26 AM

Windows Mobile LogoIn a effort to clear up the confusion in the Windows Mobile naming convention, Microsoft has decided to rename them Standard, Professional, and Classic for the next-gen Windows Mobile 6 (codename Crossbow).  What is currently known as Pocket PC Phone Edition - used on touchscreen devices - will now become Professional.  Windows Mobile Smartphone edition, which is a non-touch screen version lacking Mobile Office, will become Standard, and Pocket PC Edition (for PDAs only) will become Classic.  The new names are really too vague to be helpful, so we’ll see how long they last.

Windows Mobile “Crossbow” screenshots revealed

by Doug Berger on Nov 9, 2006 at 04:19 AM

Windows Mobile CrossbowWindows Mobile 5 didn’t come out that long ago, but it’s already getting kind of stale.  What gets smartphone fanboys more excited than screenshots of the next-gen operating system?  According to GpsPassion, they’ve got some official, unofficial screenshots of the next Windows Mobile version, codename “Crossbow.” What’s new with “Crossbow” you’re probably wondering - well to be honest, we don’t exactly know yet.  For one, screenshots (and common sense) indicate they’re integrating Windows Live and Windows Update features in.  It also looks like the GUI is just a fresh new skin laying on top of the same old OS we’ve come to love...and hate.  If you’re ready for WM Crossbow and its minty freshness, let me hear you say yay-ahhh.

Microsoft’s next Mobile OS: Crossbow

by Adam Berger on May 1, 2006 at 12:58 PM

Windows MobileMicrosoft, currently involved in a huge marketing push for Windows Mobile 5.0, is developing their next Mobile OS code-named “Crossbow.” The OS will incorporate features such as instant messaging and will have strong links with Office 2007 and Exchange 12.

Crossbow will take aim at the Symbian and BlackBerry operating systems. The OS will contain a new mobile version of Office Communicator, an Office 2007 enterprise communications application, which includes instant messaging on public and private networks.

It is still premature to say when Crossbow would be released, but the company plans for an annual mobile OS release.
