Claustrophobic computer parts rejoice! The Antec Skeleton is coming

by Jodie Andrefski on Sep 24, 2008 at 09:28 AM

skeletonWe’re always being told to “Think outside the box.” Well, Antec is putting their money where there mouth is with their upcoming “Skeleton” case.  And they aren’t offering the bare bones minimum with it either.

There is plenty of room for expansion with 7 expansion slots and 4 drive bays.  2 of the drive bays are internal and 2 are external.  If you take advantage of expanding the capabilities of your computer, you are going to need some more cooling than just an open case.  Antec throws in a front-mount hard drive cooling fan and a 250mm fan on top (that’s the bowl looking thing with the Antec logo).  If you are feeling extra-funky, you can even enjoy the fact that the fan is multi-colored.

Ok, so admittedly, it sort of looks like a science experiment with K’NEX gone bad. More after the break.

Asus bamboo series laptop christened

by Christian Milsom on Sep 2, 2008 at 04:46 PM

ASUS bamboo series

There has been talk and details about the newest laptop from Asus, mostly centered around the material it’s made from; bamboo. Admittedly this isn’t the first time that bamboo has been used as a computer case (Dell intro’s super-small, eco-friendly bamboo Green desktop PC) but it may be the first time for a laptop, and it does look interesting.

Tamrac’s Adventure Bag brings tech to what used to be a simple case

by Jodie Andrefski on Jul 3, 2008 at 06:41 AM

Tamrac Adventure Bag

So you wanna shoot in the wild?  Long gone are the days of the plain black flip-top camera bag. Now-a-days, photographers have a choice of resting spots for their Precious. And this new carrying case, touted the “Adventure Bag” by Tamrac, is really rather impressive.

To start off, the simple design of the bag is a masterpiece in it’s own right. Sleek and well balanced, with a youthful design… it looks more like a regular backpack than a camera bag, which is actually a good thing for those carrying around pricey equipment and not especially wanting to advertise that fact.  The Adventure Bags feature separate sections to hold all of your goodies. The bottom section is totally foam-padded to safely transport your camera gear, while the top section is built like a standard backpack and can be used to easily carry your snacks, maps, sunscreen, jacket or any other items you may need for your photo jaunt.

The main compartment has a weather flap along with quick-release buckles for super security and weather protection. This is definitely a plus when you are out in the elements on a long hike. The Bag also features Tamrac’s patented Memory and Battery Management System that uses red flags to identify available memory cards and batteries. For those photographers that really like to take their tech with them, the Adventure 9 and 10 also hold up to a 17-inch screen laptop. The Adventure Bag is available in Red/Black or Gray/Black.  Happy shooting!

Rendered third party case image shows 3G iPhone?

by Robert Nelson on May 19, 2008 at 11:36 PM

XSKN 3G iPhone Case Rendering

Third party case maker XSKN seems to have taken a cue from the rumored specs of the 3G iPhone. While the phone itself still has not been pictured this rendering offers up a pretty good idea of just what it may look like. Keep in mind the screenshot on this image is a stock display from the original Cingular style pictures, but that sort of makes sense, because like we mentioned the 3G handset has not been seen in public yet.

This could be nothing more than a stunt to get some attention to their website, or it could be an upcoming release that they are hoping to have out quickly after the 3G iPhone itself is released. Either way it does make the iPhone look nice and sleek, not to mention, this is from what we could tell the first case shown for the hopefully soon to be released 3G iPhone.

My Documents laptop sleeve gives you true geek cred

by Robert Nelson on May 18, 2008 at 01:57 PM

My Document Laptop Sleeve

With laptops becoming more and more popular, its not surprising that there are numerous designs for cases, while most appear to have function in mind, this latest, while it is functional seems to be a lot more stylish. Its easy to say that this is quite possibly the geekiest laptop sleeve that I have seen to date—the case is yellow with a black border and in the shape of a Windows folder which is proudly labeled “My Document.”

For someone to use this, you would have to be really comfortable with your level of geekiness, because you are sure to stand out wherever you go. The case is made from vinyl and is available (currently) only at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York City, no word on just how much it will set you back.

Gadgetell Exclusive: DLO leaks new products bound for Macworld

by JG Mason on Jan 10, 2008 at 10:51 AM

DLO HybridShell
In chatting up the DLO team at a swanky press event, they let slip some loose details about what we might see next week at Macworld.  DLO is the maker of some of the greatest, in my opinion, iPod gear and it seems they’ve been focused on the iPhone for the past design cycle.

We will see a version of the DLO’s HybridShell for the iPod touch, just for the iPhone.  The clear plastic case is gorgeous and really would make an ideal iPhone case: protection without detracting from the good looks.

Another product that should be making headlines is a new Homedock for the iPhone/iPod that upconverts video to HD quality.  An RF remote would be part of that picture as well.  Interesting.

I would suspect there will be more from DLO and as usual, it will all be well thought out.  We’ll have full details as soon as they become available.
