Asus Eee PC 900 almost available, but pre-orders are plenty

by Robert Nelson on May 10, 2008 at 06:16 PM

With the release of the Eee PC 900 quickly approaching, we are beginning to see more and more pre-order options opening up. The official release date is this coming Monday, which is May 12, but in case you cannot hold out any longer here are a few online retailers that are giving you the option to get your order in early.

We have already mentioned the listing over at ExcaliberPC, but now joining them are J&R, Buy.com and Amazon, all of which have the notebook listed for $549. For those willing to place their order early, let’s just hope the Eee PC 900 does not experience any shipping delays.

Nokia N810 WiMax Edition gets priced, then a price drop, still not not available

by Robert Nelson on Apr 30, 2008 at 11:35 PM

Buy.com listing for the Nokia N810 WiMax Edition

Its been just a few days now since Buy.com listed the Nokia N810 WiMax Edition with a selling price of $455 and its already seen a price cut. The newly lowered price is still based off a list price of $479, but instead of a $23.01 savings, they are now offering a $47.01 savings, which lowers the price down to $436.48.

Of course like we previously mentioned, this is the WiMax Edition and we are still unsure as to when Sprint will roll-out the service, otherwise it still seems to be a good deal at $436.

Creative gets a little more colorful with the ZEN

by Robert Nelson on Apr 28, 2008 at 09:05 AM

Creative Zen Now in Pink and Red

Two new colors for the Creative ZEN have recently begun to show up online. Wal-Mart currently has a new pink color, while Buy.com is listing a red colored model, and while they are still not listed on the official Creative site the pink model is listed as in-stock at Wal-Mart, the red model from Buy.com is temporarily sold out.

The newly colored pink ZEN is listed as a Wal-Mart exclusive and is the 2GB model which retails for $69.98. The Buy.com red model is the 4GB model and is retailing for $98.24. Aside from the new coloring they will retain the same features which include a 2.5-inch display with a 320 x 240 resolution, FM radio, microSD card slot for additional storage and they offer support for a wide variety of audio and video formats. Looks like a good time to drop the pink and red, after all Mothers Day is just around the corner now.

Nokia N810 WiMax Edition gets listed, priced at Buy.com

by Robert Nelson on Apr 28, 2008 at 07:52 AM

Buy.com Nokia N810 WiMax Edition listing

Buy.com has already listed the Nokia N810 WiMax Edition on their site. The N810 is currently listed for $455 with a suggested retail of $479, but as we would expect, is not currently in stock. The listing, although a little early seems to fit the time frame as Nokia announced it would be available beginning in the summer of 2008, however we cannot help but remember that the WiMax coverage would be delayed. Think I can hold off buying a device that is built specifically for a technology that is not even available.

Google speeds up online checkout with Checkout, not GBuy

by Doug Berger on Jun 29, 2006 at 02:09 PM

Today we will find out that Google’s GBuy was nothing buy hype, they’re launching Google Checkout (checkout.google.com).  According to CEO Eric Schmidt, the checkout process will be faster than it has ever been before.  “The goal here is to make it be one nanosecond from the time the customer decides to buy to the time the transaction is complete and the product is on the way,” Schmidt said.  In addition to being a speedy process, Google will also combine the service with AdWords, waiving the transaction fees for merchants that decide to purchase advertisements on the ever-popular service.  By combining these two competitive advantages, Google Checkout will have a step up on the competition from the get-go.  Companies such as Buy.com, Starbucks, Timberland, and Levis have decided to join Checkout in its launch today.  Expect news from Paypal in coming weeks.
