New Nokia E63 hits the scene trying to un-Blackberry the masses

by Jodie Andrefski on Nov 12, 2008 at 02:14 PM

nokia_e63Following on the heels of its big brother the E71, Nokia just released its newest in their E-Line, the E63.  It’s a candybar style phone shooting to bring “the QWERTY keyboard form factor to a broader audience at a great price” according to the Nokia website

Unfortunately, Nokia isn’t telling too much about the inner workings of the phone or what all makes it different from the E71 quite yet.  What we do know is that what Nokia is using as its big draw is being able to switch back and forth with a single key press between the corporate e-mail and calendar mode with the personal mode which features e-mail, websites and photos.  Nokia also serves up 1GB of cloud storage on Ovi when you buy the E63.  And of course, there is the obvious Wi-Fi connectivity. . . .

Feelin’ Blu?

by Christian Milsom on Nov 6, 2008 at 05:13 PM

goLITE BlueIt would appear that the in word at the moment is ‘Blu’ as yet another product with the prefix of Blu emerges, this time in the genre of health.  The goLITE BLU is essentially advanced light therapy to fight against S.A.D. (seasonal defective disorder) as well as the general winter depression.

Surprisingly, though this is not made by Sony, rather by Phillips who appear to have hijacked the poorly spelled color in their product name.  Beneath the fancy wording and scientific explanations is the fact the device is an alarm clock that uses new light technology (yes you guessed it, blue light) to sight against S.A.D.  Continued after the break.

Blu ‘revolution’ continues

by Christian Milsom on Nov 5, 2008 at 06:14 PM

Blu Spec CDAnybody who is fed up with new formats of media and still has only vinyl switch off your monitor now.  Boosted by their success in the High Definition DVD war with Blu-ray they have decided to expand the Blu franchise with Blu-spec CD.

Details are sketchy regarding the actual advantages due to a poorly translated Japanese press release, but what we do know is that it aims to overthrow the CD.  Unsurprisingly, they are burned using the Blu Laser Diode (hence the Blu) and even more unsurprisingly they will cost around the $20-$35 mark.  Obviously, we don’t know what you are paying for but the general consensus is that it will be significantly better sound quality.

There’s a strange twist to the Blu-spec CD—find out after the break.

Verizon to release the blue Palm Centro

by Robert Nelson on Apr 21, 2008 at 11:36 AM

Verizon Wireless branded blue Palm Centro

Based on some recently surfaced images it looks like Verizon will be the latest carrier to offer the widely popular Palm Centro. We have been seeing the blue Palm Centro turn up a few times recently, the first was in those on-line Centro user guides from Palm and based on those most people speculated it would turn up as an unlocked GSM model. That turned out to be untrue as we recently saw Mexican carriers Movistar and Telcel announce its availability.

With that it would have been safe to assume that we would not be seeing it land in the US anytime soon, luckily for Verizon customers it looks like they will soon be getting the blue Centro as well. The Centro, while still unannounced is expected to be available soon.

Keep reading for a backside pic of the blue Centro…

Palm releases the blue Centro in Mexico

by Robert Nelson on Apr 4, 2008 at 08:23 PM

Blue Palm Centro

We first saw the blue Palm Centro when it showed up in an image from a user guide that was posted on the Palm website. Since then the Blue Centro has remained a mystery, however Palm along with Movistar and Telcel have just announced the availability of both the blue and also a red model.

It had been different carriers, different colors, not its moved on to different countries, different colors. Hopefully Palm will decide to release the blue model elsewhere in the future, but as of now they are not making any promises.
